A little annoyed

I’m in the procces of having this happen for the second time in four days. Plug in the watch to charge overnight. Come back and it’s displaying the down-pointing arrow with dots icon. The Suuntolink software say update required or something and it takes half an hour to do things.
Quite annoyed!
Are you using MC and SA at the same time? I recall that some people have this problem because they use both apps at the same time, not killing one of them. If that is your case you could search in the forum.

I posted this on another thread. Maybe it is useful to you.

@nathalier71 I have experienced the same problem but only when charging on my Mac. I believe when he says he lost everything he is referring to the watch resetting to factory mode and have to enter and reconnect all pods, devices and sensors and reconnect to app. All profile and personal setting are gone. I agree it’s very annoying. I haven’t experienced this using an iPhone charger. Seems to only happen when connected to the computer.

@walters4060 could it be the case that connecting the watch to a Mac launches Suuntolink (or whatever is the software on Mac, sorry I don’t use one) automatically and said app tries to update the watch?
-
@isazi
Maybe, who knowsI use a mac (and yes it’s Suuntolink that starts plugging the watch) and I’ve never had such issue.
@nathalier71 @walters4060
Maybe it’s related to the OS , I’m still on High Sierra.
Which one do you have ? -
@isazi You can disable and enable this feature of auto-starting SuuntoLink on the Mac. If I remember correctly, I think you have to start the update by clicking on a button? At least thats how I do it.
-
@jthomi
Correct, you can disable it in settings and the upgrade (both SL and FW) starts only if you want to, and factory reset it’s not something that you can do by mistake, pressing the wrong link.Maybe log can be sent to Suunto when this happen

I have a Suunto Spartan and am seeing the arrow for a few times now.
At first I managed to reset it by letting the battery go flat (as a soft reset and hard reset did NOT work).
After this I was able to use it on 2 hikes.The day after the 2nd hike, I put on the watch and 10 minutes later the arrow appeared again. This time a soft reset worked.
Later that day I went on a hike and guess what? During the hike the arrow appeared again. Soft reset or hard reset did NOT work.
I have drained the battery for 1 day and tried a hard reset again: it did NOT work.I have had the watch for 2 years without problems but am not thinking of buying a new one: a GARMIN.

@ldavis730 Do you use both Movescount app and Suunto app?
-
@surfboomerang no I didn’t. The watch died on me. Battery went flat and after recharging it, it went flat within a few hours again. Lost case this watch.
