Suunto Spartan Ultra - How to display informations during activity recording?
-
@Storz @TELE-HO @Bulkan @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos @isazi Too bad about silentvoyager, maybe I will try to find him on Garmin forums and encourage him to stay active. He made good points that were based on his observations. Speaking of Garmin, most of my coached group has them, we did 1.62 km (1 mile) intervals today and I showed my coach and a couple of others how my zones show on the perimeter on my screens. We were discussing HR during the run, I said I did not know mine but knew I was in zone 2. The answer was wow, I have to figure out how to do that. I believe the Forerunners, maybe Fenix can do this on the HR screen but not on others. My point is a main one for Suunto UI, which I find has a lot of thought going into how the feature would be used, not merely whether a feature is there or not. I have 3 fields on my interval screen (I use the lap button not the Intervals) Pace, Lap Distance and Lap Duration. The HR I can see on the perimeter zones so I don’t need a number.

@Brad_Olwin Garmin has a smaller gauge you can add to the top or bottom field, but I agree the Suunto UI here is better, and supports power or speed zones too.
-
@Brad_Olwin
the HR zone indicator is indeed fantastic! I also look mainly at the zones.
This zone topic just got me to another request for Dimitrios but I’ll post that in the appropriate thread (QS)Thanks, I hope silentvoyager did not entirely give up on Suunto
-
@TELE-HO I think that he must go to the ‘other side’ and see by himself that there is no perfect device, and that Suunto is, at least for me, the best you can get if you aim for reliability and accuracy…
but if you are feature driven then maybe some other brand is for you…
-
@Brad_Olwin The intensity zones is the smartest thing of the UI in Suunto watches. I use it for power, you can choose HR, Power or Pace. The Garmin watches don’t support power in running natively and for me is a great disadvantage.
My other favorite screen is the one with the color in the background, I tend to keep simple 2 screens and other with 7 data fields where I see everything.

@nseslija
it is true that in Garmin you can create a lot of apps to meet someones requirements better… not sure if this involves also the algorithm of total ascent and distance etc…
But I am too stupid for creating those apps anyway… one of the reasons why I enjoy Suunto a lot. Already plenty of stuff out of the box
AND Suunto team will most likely fix the issues with total ascent on rolling hills and distance… and even much more!
…but that’s a bit offtopic… -

@Storz one of our “locals” deleted his account apparently
?? First of all, Dimitri I think that your respond was correct. That’s it, period. BUT…but to delete his account because of this?..Hi is not a spammer, he is an athlete, very angry and sharp in his behaviour? Is that a ‘tool’ to manage with unhapy and angry users. Again, deleting account is acceptable only for spammers and offensive users, he is an athlete . Will you delele mine too, If I will use sharp words occasionally because I am not very happy with current situation also…And Idea too look for him at other forums. And what to say to him? Sorry man, you can log with another account and participate in forum again…c’mon, he is even more angry rigth now than before deleting his account.
-
@zvonejan I think “one of our ‘locals’ deleted his own account” is the intended meaning.

ups…it looks like I totally misunderstood this then
-
@zvonejan
he did delete it himself… I have not heard of anybody contributing reasonable stuff who was deleted, even if he let us feel his anger.
The moderators try to calm people down and I think they’re doing it very good.
Maybe he was pissed off by the criticism and lost patience… but it’s not up to the moderators as I see it. -
@zvonejan hey I have not deleted any account here ever. I cannot without user permission.
I have banned bots yes (the account is still there so it cannot be recreated).
I clearly stated that
Why would I delete his account?
@TELE-HO I hope hi will rejoin.
As you and others said he has great ideas, good problem solving and many other good traits.
We ll have bad traits and we all will argue here and show also parts of our “bad” self. We are humans and it’s ok todo so. I don’t think I know any “best” friend of mine that we have not been arguing and yelling.
I hope this clears up some things.

As (at least some of) the posts themselves remain, do you choose the replacement handle? Is it at your discretion or is there a system (in case of mass exodus): “A Former User” “B Former User” “C Former User” or maybe “A Former User_01”, etc.?
-
Sory Dimitri. I did not say that you deleted his account sorry. I thought that someone from moderators (not you) deleted his account. Again, all good
-
@Fenr1r the forums runs on NodeBB. NodeBB is open-source but we are paying for the forum to NodeBB for their all-self-hosting-managing solution and because it’s cool to pay for open-source
I don’t decide the naming or how this is done I think all are listed as “Former User”. But I could ask for a change if that is needed / suggested.
-
@zvonejan no worries pal. If I had misunderstood I would have had reacted the same Its all good.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks: I was half kidding. It’s a fair handle for the departed. And I suppose “A Former User” remains technically correct for each and every deleted account, no matter how many the forum might have. Don’t know what it does to a search though.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
yes please silentvoyager, if you read this: re-join
