@Atlen are you using the stable or beta SA?

@Chindris-Bogdan said in Suunto 9 Baro - deteriorating battery life:

        100% - 07.04. - 16:20
        79% - 08.04. - 16:40
        59% - 09.04. - 16:23
        41% - 10.04. - 16:38
        16% - 11.04. - 17:23
        0% - 12.04. - 12:00

So I charged my S9 Tuesday evening, and today (Sunday) at 14:20 I have 10% of battery remaining. But in these four days and a half I logged 7 hours of GPS, plus 2:20 without GPS. All activities with sensors (e.g. heart rate monitor, footpod).
Without activities I estimate I would have at least 35% remaining.

@Atlen the beta is supposedly (as in, I can’t test it but this is how it should be) consuming less power because it syncs your watch only when you open the app, and not all the time (but you still get instant notifications). So next stable release should also be less power hungry.

I will disable the notification and start from 100% to see the difference…

I’ve disabled the Notification and Brightness was 30%.

                Settings:

                Backlight Automatic

                Standby-On

                Brightness: 30%

                24/7 Tracking – On

                Sleep tracking – On

                Notification Off

The battery drain from 100% to 0% in 5 days and 4 hours (without activities).

@Chindris-Bogdan it seems fast discharge but in my case that was even faster(2,5 days).

I think that this topic is also discussed in other thread:

                    https://forum.suunto.com/topic/3477/s9-or-s5-expected-battery-life-on-2-9-42?_=1588062214792

In this thread you can read that with the update 2.9.42 there were introduced some functionality that “drains” the battery, so in my opinion instead of disable notifications you should test without 24/7 tracking of and Sleep tracking too. @Chindris-Bogdan, with your configuration I think that is not far from reality and matches my own experience, but it is true that I had some GPS activities during my tests, around 3/4 hours in these 5/6 days.

@Atlen In your case 2.5 days it is really low. Did you try a soft reset?

What it is true is that the S9, when using GPS, the battery consumption it is really low. I your case I would test first disabling 24/7, sleep tracking and notifications. I would also kill the SA app to avoid sync and see what happens. As an example, I get around 9/10 days wearing the watch all the day without notifications, no 24/7 and no sleep tracking and 30 minutes of indoor activities (NO GPS) everyday and 40 min of GPS walking once a week.

It is also talked that the SA app sync can affect the battery consumption.

@cosmecosta i have shared my experience with fast discharge in other thread in the forum. I have made lot of adjustments and even had replaced the watches upon the warranty. As a result, i had only left the features necessary for my use profile, it means tracking the workouts and recovery(24 hrs HR on, sleep) shall not be skipped, otherwise there is no need to buy sport watches. Other features like notifications are off. To summarize, i have to charge my S9B almost every 6-7 days with 6-8 hours of workouts (External HR, no GPS due to lockdown) on treadmill and aerobics at home. I guess that is good enough and i do not see the reason to continue the research to decrease the power consumption.

@Atlen I think that if you get 6/7 days with 24/7 and sleep tracking with 6/8 hours of workouts it is what I would say quite good and reasonable.

If you disable connection with SA you will not get AGPS updates, this will affect battery consumption if you use GPS as the watch will require a much longer time to get a good GPS fix. Allowing the watch to remain connected or to connect each day and then forget the watch in the menu would likely be better.

@Brad_Olwin To be certain, I had notifications off but connection to SA is on. Every time new workout completed it starts to sync immediately.
