Direct drive indoor trainer

@johann-fuehrer I think a smart trainer (Tacx, Wahoo, …) will send Power, Cadence and Speed but not a distance, the distance will be calculate by device (watch or GPS), isn’t it ?
It’s really strange because the Wahoo Kickr core, send also Power, Cadence and Speed (receive by Wahoo app and Garmin), with A2 and Spartan I can’t receive Cadence and Speed, but Power is possible. And you is clearly the opposite…
Do you know if Suunto work on this issue ??
-
@Dwartus No idea if Suunto is seeing this even as an issue or is working on a fix. Distance could be calculated if a wheel size (virtual) is configureable for such trainers and the watch will do so. Never will be like in real live, but as a rough estimation it would be ok…

@johann-fuehrer Your S9Baro is 2.12.30 software version ??
I’m always thinking of buying a S9Baro … -

@johann-fuehrer I recall something about the bluetooth of the Neo smart, about the broadcasting of all the data via bluetooth but I didn’t find it to bring it here. That problem with ant+ isn’t there. What you can try is cable which converts the ant+ signal to bluetooth.
I own the version 1 of the Neo and I don’t paired the Suunto to the trainer, I use zwift. I prefer to have all the info and I enjoy it more. At the beginning I recorded in the suunto as a indoor cycling but unpaired to the trainer… but I don’t do it anymore.
About QS it doesn’t have TSS. If you want training load, check out runanalyze or Strava free account with the extension called elevate in Chrome.

Hello, thanks for information regarding Quantified Self, I will have a look on the dedicate post, and also try to create an account to play with.
Regarding the main topic, that the watch (A2 or Spartan or Suunto 9) doesn’t catch all signals comes from smart trainer (Power, speed and cadence), does someone of Suunto teams can give support here or maybe give timeline to solve it ??
Unfortunately, Garmin and Polar catch all signals form smart trainer.
Thank you

Better contact Suunto directly for that. Have you asked support?
-
@isazi Yes, I’ve done two phone call and one email traffic -> no answer.
At the second phone call, Suunto support say me that “they never tested Wahoo and Tacx with Suunto”.
Sorry, but I don’t know really if they understand sometimes…Does someone here work in Suunto R&D departement or something like that ??
Thanks

I am aware of two Suunto developers (app and backend I guess) in the forum. Not sure if any firmware developer is here.
-
So I raised this issue.
I am not sure when this can be improved to be honest but now the R&D + PO teams are aware of this. Thank you
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thank you for your help.
Do you know if Suunto confirm this trouble or will work on it ? or just they received claim ?As you know I’m in a way to buy a Suunto 9, but I would like to know if this issue will be solve or not before buy it… (I have other question task to be check as example disable the wrist HR definitevly to avoid battery consumption during day working, compatible H10/TickrX, …)
Thank you

You can disable 24h heart rate monitor, and H10/TickrX heart rate monitor are compatible, but if you are interested in more discussion about these topics search the forum or write a new post

@isazi Thank you, Yes it’s the idea to find correct topics about.

Hello,
I saw the Software update 2.13.18 released.
But it seems not to be concern the issue of this topicDo you have an idea of the reason ??
Does this topic is really take into account ?Thanks
-
@Dwartus well it’s 17 days that passed.
That is not something much as of development time.
Also I didn’t say that they will do this feature. They just know that people want this.
-
@Dwartus I use trainer and I get your point about the Suunto getting all the signal, but sincerely I would prefer to support Zwift as a partner because all the indoor trainer I do is in zwift, but if I wouldn’t use Zwift I will need a better support of the trainer in my Suunto watch.
-
For me, this is not a new function, but rather a correction/improvement.
The Suunto are able to be connect at sensor (power, speed, …), and sensors of indoor trainer are not detected. But detected by others (Garmin, Polar, Zwift, …).
@Bulkan I also use Zwift to do my training session, but not sure to do it all the time due to other simulator and also the price. I can also use Wahoo platform for one or two session as example.
I send data (90% of my activities) directly in Strava platform.
But at end the real and full tracking is done by Suunto. -
Hello,
Is there a new software released since 2.13.18 ?
Do you know, if this topic is now correct if new software released ?
Thanks
-
@dwartus no new firmware for the watch yet.
-
Hello all,
I now seen the software release 2.16.26
Does somebody can tell me if this point is now solved / corrected ?
Thank you
