@TELE-HO @Алексей-Омельченко
If the problem is Sleep tracking and 24/7, you can disable 24/7 and still have sleep tracking active without any problem afair
If you want to track heart rate only during sleep, that’s not possible , I agree
-
@TELE-HO another bug was about ascent. I have asked why G***** and P**** products and even the old Ambit 3 measure ascent (elevation gain) correctly without barometer and Suunto 9 cannot do it. The answer was “buy baro and read the manual, a barometer is needed to measure ascent properly”.
I found the essence of that bug in xml log file, sent them the description and it did not take effect.
Bugs are not considered bugs, old bugs persist, new ones are issued. All the updates are about minor themes such as Suunto Plus or … we fixed wrong date after two months of hard work:))) -

ok, we know that this happened within very short AND during holidays…
this forum is full of discussions about the ascent issues with non barometric watches.
Unfortunately my short answer for ascent questions with non baro watches is identical with what you have just quoted…
From what I know there is a potential to improve this issue, but in the end the fact remains that nothing beats baro. -
- The constant lights are on to compute HRV and measure your heartRate better and provide better insights, since you are interested in 24/7 tracking.
- About the altitude bug I suppose you refer to “less” ascent right? That has nothing todo with maps etc. Just for your info.
One thing to note here to make you not so confused. This forum is community based.
You see these moderator tags? These people are moderators because they where elected some time ago. They are not working for Suunto so bashing them or treating them as Suunto is unfair. -

Sorry but here I disagree, I usually run with a friend of mine that uses an Ambit 3 Run (No baro) and I with a SSU and now with the S9B, the Ambit 3 is always low on height compared with the SSU and the S9B, more when there are no big uphills. The S9B is pretty consistent with the SSU and with a Sigma ROX 10.0, also with baro.

- Not better. It was good enough in 2.8.24, including sleep tracking. Everything works properly within this release, I could and still can compare. I have tested two watches at the same time, 2.9.42 firmware is made only to kill the battery. Please, no more lies, no one else uses that hack.
- Depending on the current speed, the more the speed, the less is the ascent. That is because current point is not logged correctly and is written to xml file with previous numbers. With the speed of about 4 min/km and faster and moderate uphills up to 50% of all the ascent is lost. For a Vertical kilometer training is is quite not good to see a mere 500 meters on a watch display. For cross country skiing things are even worse… Only for slow nordic walking everything seems to be ok. Of course, it is all in Best performance mode.

Good enough for? It didn’t use HRV before, it does now, so it is clearly no the same thing.

About 1: I can provide for you a FW to downgrade
About 2: I am not sure I understand what you say. I work on engineering (not for Suunto) and I do have some experience on this section. Suunto’s count ascent on ±3m change in (if I remember correctly) 6-9minutes. For non baro models its ±7meters.
I am not following about the XML that you talk about -

@sartoric just because I had a long email convesation with your support team.
Your time is up, now I want everyone to know first you are liars doing nothing to fix bugs and last and the least you destroy previous models intentionally to force people buy newer models.
Such as “buy Suunto 7 because Suunto 9 is outdated and full of bugs”Try to argue… good luck
I am not a Suunto employee either, but what are the bugs regarding the S9? I have an S9 baro model and have no issues at all with altitude, I can provide the data if you wish. My S9 baro is not full of bugs, in fact I don’t have any at this time, what bugs are you referring to? Finally my S9 is not outdated, I have both an S7 and S9 and I cannot use the S7 for the exercises that I use the S9 for, which is my favorite watch of all time. I did own an SSU and all the Ambits.

@Brad_Olwin
I catched he has an S9 without baro… but honestly that is something we as customers should consider before purchasing a new watch: do I care about alti, if yes - > baro -
I get some of Aleksei’s frustrations about firmware. I would also like more things to be customizable on the watch (or through app, even better through proper web interface). I can’t praise enough Polar Flow, true that they screwed a bit users with earlier products and Polar Trainer…That reminds me on this situation with Movescount and Suunto app.
@TELE-HO “nothing compared to Suunto official support” - e-mail or? What is the best way to submit a bunch of suggestions so that Suunto take them into consideration? I see things on the forum that are not solved from 2018 and 2019…and won’t be.
In 3 months of having a watch, just one fw with day correction. They must be working on 7 and 9 successor:)
About baro and altitude. I don’t get this watch, never had problem like this with Polar. In watch mode, I live at 253m above sea level and it was fine on the watch until it decided to increase that altitude for more than 20m and keep it for a few days. I know about pressure, but still.Speaking of Polar and bugs. I mentioned that my Polar reset 2-3 times during an activity in 5 years. Well not good start for S9B. With no activity, just “watch mode”, it had 60% of battery. Few minutes later I looked at the watch - blank screen.
Pushed a button, nothing. Double finger tap for light - nothing. Connected it to a charger - nothing, dead.
Did a software reset (top button for 12 sec or so) and it came back to life. What happened I don’t know.As I am finally starting with activities outdoor I was hoping a new firmware would be out for a while, but nothing yet.
I lost my hope for better light control/activation, vibration customization, race pace, interval training, more screens, waypoints and POI (I mean, c’mon how many months does it take for Suunto programmers to add freaking waypoints to the app)…and “we are all moving to the new platform”.Question for those who use gloves or sweat during run (everybody) - how do you activate backlight (if it isn’t set to ON with button press)?
I cannot double finger tap the screen with gloves or it doesn’t work with sweaty fingers when it is hot (I rub my fingers to my shirt or pants to try to get them dry and then activate backlight in 5th or 6th attempt.) That backlight and missing dedicated light button is just stupid, what were they thinking while designing the watch…and the same thing on Suunto 5 I think…and they are Finnish company…I guess it is cold during the winters there and people wear gloves. Maybe it is the global warming so we don’t need gloves anymore.
And no, I don’t want to waste the (mediocre) battery life with every button press or have the light all the time. Someone mentioned tilt to activate the light, but that wasn’t accepted with much of approval here on the forum. I mean it could be done with what we have on the watch. For example 1-2 seconds middle button press or press 2 buttons at the same time (easy to press 2 buttons at once with a glove).
I just remembered also unchangeable Sunday for the start of a week…resurces after battery charge and so on and on. -

for the problem with gloves …and always open backlight on S9… agree…100% not so practical fora hardcore situtations
-
@gerasimos
yes, I wasn’t checking for 5, that why I wrote “I think”, sorry. Thought about it as a bit weaker version of 9 -
@Cuba1hr
all good man just I mention…also me too i have little problems with s9
- use compass at exercsice mode (and bearing locks)
- backlight function (i solve it unofficial with press upper or mid button for 2 sec)
- lock buttons in navigation mode because when i hike in difficult conditions and use my hands to get over an obstacle press accidentally the button and change the screen or open the bottom nav. menu)
- when i pause the activity i want to access in the menu to see my all exerscise data or redefine my navigate position when rest ( like ambit or new S7 )
- poi name at "the fly’’ to know wich is wich
- lock button in IN TIME MODE big buttons - easy accidental press…
but i still fucking love this watch…and the “pros” in crucial and important fuctions are always in 101% functionally - trustworty.
this minimal tech- watch companion has NEVER BUT NEVER betray me in the mountains or sea.i try a lot in the market…but… : S9 PURE POWER

Longer duration of vibration for alarm.
I suppose it is topmost new feature for next firmware. Currently notification/alarm vibration is so weak that it cannot be sensed even in relax condition…
I want power of vibration be configured. For persons who prefer longer battery life maybe it will be necessary to choose current vibration duration but for those who really want to know what happening without periodically checking phone duration of vibration must be much much longer and powerfull than current.
P.S. I constantly asking about this feature for more than a year, but still no luck. Time to time I’m finding myself in one step from smash this watches with huge hammer when I miss important notification… again. -
Yes, vibration is so weak and short that I still use miBand for waking up in the morning.
-
Totaly agree regarding vibration.

what really?
if notification is that important to you, why don’t you just set the phone volume to maximum? -
@TELE-HO I think that that guy just kidding but I for example don’t want to have sound notification to loud and I prefer vibration, that is why longer vibration than now is so important for me
-
@TELE-HO
I don’t want to wake up other people with alarm sound (or little nephew when sleeping over) that remain sleeping when I get up for work.
