Iâm sorry but you have kept users hoping since the release of the spartan line. Back then all we could hope for was to get basic functionality, as the watch was so far away from those marketing renders (e.g. the compass face, the color indicatorsâŚ) and then the watch kept crashing during activities, which was not fixed for quite a while.
People bought the watch, confident that theyâd get a continuation of the ambit series with additional features.
What they got is that you kept them hoping and waiting for what would be even less than the Ambit3 capabilities.
And now you keep them hoping to get basic fitness tracking. After years.Itâs just sad.
I donât like Garmin as a company, but they have all the features you keep users hoping for by dropping those tiny bits of information.
Just be honest to your users, communicate whatâs planned and what not. -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos ok, but the Spartan is still sold
-
@carlo-rocca and whatâs up with that?
The unit is sold for what it does. Its a watch. Why would it need updates?
I am not saying it shouldnât get, but personally if I would buy any watch it doesnât come hand in hand with updates. Just saying and again dont get me wrong. I am against Suunto stopping the Spartan updates , but that doesnât mean that itâs completely illogical or most important that itâs not a good device. I would train with a SSU anytime. Been my buddy at life since 2016. That it doesnât get updates means that it doesnât get any better and I DO KNOW IT HURTS, but again it doesnât mean itâs a bad watch.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos i mean that if you sell a product you must support it as the other product you sell.
I am satisfied of my ssswhr but im still waiting for structured workouts as promised 2 (two) years ago -

I am satisfied of my ssswhr but im still waiting for structured workouts as promised 2 (two) years agoAnd as said in the specific topic ⌠structured workout wonât be added, not soon, probably never.
I have a spartan too, I would like to have more NEW functions, I like those just added to S9. Iâm a bit annoyed yes ⌠but I canât say the watch is not supported if Iâm not getting anything else. The watch does what it was supposed to do when I bought it (and something more to be honest)
Iâm almost sure that if a new bug will be found, weâll get a FW update to fix it. -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Could you share more about the fact that the Spartan watches donât need a fw upgrade to get some new functionalities? And could it be possible that new functions would be added with an app-update? -
@RuudK he is talking about WP and POI creation in the app and sync to the watch ⌠which | NEWS FLASH | used to work perfectly with Movescount and got left behind with the transfer to the still inferior SuuntoApp. Thereâs nothing particular to be excited about a function that used to work and will be brought back with a marketing pomp surrounding it like âSuunto has a new trick pony which is actually something we used to have, but now we have it again and other brands have had it for years too.â.
-
Here it is new firmware⌠but not for Spartanâs I donât think we will get new Firmware update in this year (2019) also they removed Spartan from their page, now you can find the watch only in sport watches and all watches⌠It happened like all we know, Suunto would like to forget about the Spartan seriesâŚ

Of course. Conveniently just after Black Friday! What a coincidence.

As an S9 user, I have had thought next FW update could for Spartan line, but I was wrong and wrong again.
-
From the last S9 FW update :
There are some altitude improvements as well and quite a few bug fixes as well.
You FusedAlti should work much better calibrating the initial altitude and having more consistent ascent and descent valuesThatâs exactly whatâs missing to the Spartans for months. Thatâs why for me the Spartan was incomplete and thatâs why Suunto decision to stop spartan FW update is unacceptable from my point of wiew.
Itâs not a question of new features (I donât care, I didnât buy it for those) but this 3 years old flagship spartan is not really finishâŚ

@Kramble I think I also answered this on another thread, that Spartans did not have this issue and I can explain technically if needed.
To your information, the fused alti retry to correct the intitial altitude (because there is continius calibration) and other improvements might come and are looked at and those might indeed miss from the Spartan line with a future update.
Donât get me wrong, I just try to clarify.
This update if it came to Spartans would have brought the Suunto Plus mainly but no altitude improvements. The altitude improvements are on the Sony GPS Fw

Some really cool stuff from the past:
https://www.facebook.com/Suunto/posts/10153965137237621
Quotes:
âIn our continued commitment to keep you informed of updates coming and scheduled for the Suunto Spartan,we wanted to share the current status of the Spartan Gets Stronger development roadmapâ
âWe also need to delay the scheduled October 26th [2016] update (Sport mode customization, training plans to your watch and more) to later this yearâ
âwe are making progress and remain confident and committed that the Spartan solution will deliver on its potentialâ
Looks like the person handling PR has since left the company - I havenât seen any such announcements for a long time now.
-
@kriskus they are eating their words and not keeping promises âSpartan Gets Strongerâ.
Good thing we got sport mode customization. /sarcasm
