Today I used navigation when cycling and I encountered an annoying issue. When I go off-route the message stays on screen until I get back on the route ( there was no way I could tap anything on the watch being on the dual carriageway ). If I see that message it’s no help to go back on the route. Is there something I am missing or navigation doesn’t have any mechanism to direct the user back onto the route? Sometimes, when I somehow went back on the route, the message telling me that stays too long on the screen! Yay! I’m glad I’m back but I want to see where the hell I am! 😄 I ended up setting up navigation on my phone. Am I missing something or on-watch navigation requires serious improvement?

@jsr184 press middle button to dismiss those. But you are right. I hate them as well. 🙂

Yes, they are way too obstrusive… Just when you’d need the navigation screen, all you see is that message. Just a small note on the lower or top side of the screen would do!
You should be able to dismiss it using the middle button…

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos the problem is that if I’m riding on the road and there are cars, space ships, aliens and other stuff that usually is seen on road then I don’t want to get my hands off the handlebar to press the button 😄 Another thing is that when I’m off the route I see no way to go back on the route or how far I went off the route. Having traffic behind me I can’t just stop to press the button 😛 Recently, I’m posting some feature suggestions and I may have an idea for another one.

              Good additions everyone here.

              I know the pain 😉

Just a small tip but hard todo if on bike , you can estimate some stuff with the radius mark (zoom level) .

But no this is very hard todo!

The navi screen needs improvements and one should be an arrow and distance to the closest point to the route. What do you think?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos that would be a good improvement. I really like the navigation feature and with some improvements, it could rule! Also, compared with my PolarV650 computer, I can see what’s on the screen even in the bright sun. Another thing I’m missing is reorienting the navigation screen when the watch is on the wrist. Would be nice if forward direction would be bike/walk forward not watch’s “up”. I don’t attach the watch to the handlebar ( the Suunto “thingy” to attach is quite expensive 😮 ) but can peek at my wrist quickly. I could come up with a number of such improvements 😛

Totally agree with you! It would be great. Even better you can choose the point of the route you want to aim, so you can take shortcut.

I think a closest path to the route isn’t the best idea, because that may not be the safest path. But seeing a directional arrow on the route and having an easier way to estimate the distance to the route would be helpful.

Absolutely agree, when off route it would be good to get arrows to help you back onto route - similar to find back (breadcrumbs)

I highly doubt any changes to this will come, can’t even recall when the latest update for the Spartans was.
