Have some problems with finding a gps signal before a move since a few days.
I usually start where I finished my previous move - Right in front of my house.
Since a few days it really takes Long to find a gps Signal (2-3 minutes) - in the past (Maybe one week ago) it only took a few seconds.
Does anyone know what might cause this problem? -
If in doubt try a soft reset and/or sync with SA or Movescount.
-
@Audaxjoe usually a good proposal, nevertheless I have the same issue for the last weeks, no matter if freshly reset, synced with SA wirelessly and/or with MC by cable. Additionally the GPS-reception is rather poor under nearly all circumstances (currently I have to admit that is has the slowest time to pick up GPS since my Garmin 305, the Garmin Fenix has been slightly better, the SSSWHR and Ambit 2 and 3 extremely faster and better).
So I have no solution, but simply join the club of not so positively excited S9-users (the same still valid for SA …)P.S.: it does not even become significantly better, when being used at the same starting point, but when used in a new place (approx 200-300km away) it significantly worsens. But mostly, after approx 2-5 Minutes there will be at least initial GPS coverage.

@MaxiPalle This is most likely due to the AGPS file not being updated or present in the watch. My S9 acquires a GPS fix in seconds. Check Settings/General/About and make sure the AGPS file is current. If not, then perform a sync. If the sync is failing to restore/update AGPS then soft reset the watch.
-
After sync check you have AGPS.
Settings -> general -> about
-
AGPS at least looks good (of course I can’t check the content). Today it is still 2019-06-12T00:0:00Z (checked it before and it always looked like the most current version)

@Shrek3k perhaps the battery mode?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos is on performance; and I am a little frustrated but mostly surprised. Simply waiting for an update (watch not SA
… but who is not
) somehow expecting to see a miracle happen. -
@Shrek3k its a bit strange that it takes time to be honest. I have not experienced that.
-
trying to reset all settings from suuntolink?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos me neither (At least not with Suunto … but very often with Garmin), especially frustrating that my wifes Ambit 3 is so much faster and exact, when synced at the same time and even used during the same activity (running together)
-
@Shrek3k is that after a soft reset? Because after a reset of the watch (12s upper button) it will take longer…
Perhaps your watch softresets it self?
You can chec kthat via the pressure chart if it has gaps.
-
@Saketo-Nemo no, as I usually sync with SA during workdays (I am a weekly commuter without PC during the week), might check in the next days when there are no changes …
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos where can I find the pressure chart?

-
@Shrek3k altitude card -> go right
-
seems that I can’t offer / use that chart as I have the “simple version” (aka non-baro). -
@Shrek3k check 24/7 hr
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I am really grateful for your assistance, and I hope that I understand you correctly … as I am not using the any of the 24h-capabilities (sleep / HR) as I have no need at all for any of them (add to this opion, that these data could/would be collected but not interpreted in a meaningful way as far as I understand), so I might not be able to check there either if there are any ‘automatic’ resets

-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Checked it and it was appr. 3 weeks old.
Did a soft reset and voila - GPS optimization started during next sync.Thanks!
-
@MaxiPalle That should solve the problem. My S9baro acquires a fix in about 5 sec.
