@cosmecosta Just to let you know: I have both enabled. In fact I used the OH1 connected to a Garmin Fenix 3 HR (using Ant) and also to the Polar Beat app during one gym session, just to see what would happen!

      Suunto Ambit3 Peak
      Polar H10
      Polar OH1

@wakarimasen thanks, I just charged it and I’m going to do a cycle to see how much time it lasts.

@cosmecosta I use Polar H10, and I discovered some time ago, that it was connected to the watch ones the workout is completed, so I always remove the sensor from the band (when I finish the activities) to ensure this disconnection and battery waste.

@suzzlo it might be because electrodes are still moist? I think belts use this as an activation trigger.

@дима-мельниченко I noticed that a brand new Suunto Smart Belt used to connect easily. Over time the belt has become “less sensititive” in a way. This behaviour made me think that there might have been some conductive substance on the electrodes and now it has worn off. Now I have to concentrate and make sure that my skin under the plastic pad kind of electrodes is really wet. Otherwise I get funny readings or gaps in the recorded heart rate.

@brunoh I don’t have a suunto belt, but rather a decathlon one. A year of service didn’t impact the connection speed or readings quality. (other then an issue I think is on s9 fw side)

Belts are somewhat washable, aren’t they? Maybe worth a try. Also you could maybe try to replace just the belt part.

If your belt, doesn’t have the movesense logo background in whitish or light grey it is the old model and this belt is quite faulty, bad readings and so on. You have been very lucky if it has lasted more than 6 months. The newer model, in theory, doesn’t have issues. As @дима-мельниченко says belts are washable, I used to wash my Suunto one every 3/4 weeks and the same for my Polar H10 (only used for biking, for running I’m using the Polar OH1)

@cosmecosta Well, I have the text “Movesense” and triangle logo made of dots in both the sensor unit battery cover and in the belt between the contacts. I guess I should be OK then.

I mean, in the belt, where there is the logo Movesense, if the background of the letters is black, the belt is the old model and tend to be faulty, if the background is white or light grey is the newer model. If you have the old one, you can contact support about the bad readings and they probably will exchange it for the new one.

In my experience, with the old model, you can wash it and will work ok for one week or so and then will start to fail again. Yo can search in the forum for threads talking about the Smart Belt Issues.

Just to keep my promise of informing you the Garmin HRM Pro connected flawlessly to the s9b and the HR was spot on. I even had my fitness (vo2) jump 4 units 🙂
