Altitude

Hi!
Suunto 9 baro watch ver. 2.6.54 and Suunto App ver. 1.8.1 (6998)I wonder if you have correct values for altitude on your watches? I know that the hight at home is 182 meters but the watch always differs between 150m -210m. I know It varies due to weather changes etc but this is a little to much I think. If I try to calibrate the watch it still varies a lot. If I set the altitude to 182 meters when I go to sleep and then in the morning it shows for example 191meters?
I also checked the altitude when I was traveling and the watch differs between 20- 80 meters from actual altitude on the location. It was reflected on an exercise where the altitude was wrong in the beginning and at the end. In between I don’t know.
In the Suunto app there is a possibility to set either altitude by gps or barometer. Is this setting only for the app or is it for the watch also? If I know the actual hight should I set the correct altitude manually or just use auto calibration? Do I need to calibrate the altitude before a exercise?
I´m ok with that the altitude is not spot on all the time but I feel that when calibrating it should show the “correct” altitude or somewhere near.
/thanks -
It would be nice to have altitude correction setting while workout, like it have ambit peak

It has… it’s called FusedAlti.
Works pretty good, but can take a few minutes to kick in at the start of the move -
@surfboomerang Some times the readings are way off, especially on the top of the hills where I have a reference point, I would like to correct the altitude manually.

It’s true that FusedAlti doesn’t run always correctly, before this update. With fw 2.6, according to the changelog, something is fixed, so…let’s test it

What @Saketo-Nemo says is correct. There are a lot of fixes there and more to come with the next updates regarding altitude readings and corrections

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos sounds great So for best user experience do you recommend that always use auto calibration or set it manually if you know the altitude? Even if its just to show on the watch during the day. not in a sports mode. What about the settings in the Suunto app? where you can choose either gps or barometer is this for the app or the watch ?

@helgonet12 In daily use I d say do it manually since you know the altitude. If not known use a couple of times autoadjust and get the average.
Regarding configuration with SA I think this setting will come to the watch as its not important anymore or Suunto wants the use to be less confused with these settings. AFAIk there will be a possibility to lock the altitude eg if running on track and field. Most of the sport modes have the correct configuration for you already.
Regarding pre run or during run, don’t need to do anything. This will be automatically ajusted and beein adjusted all the time during your activity.

I made so many typos
