Feature for spartan : location view+zoom
-
@sartoric I have the breadcrumb view. But often I get a message to move around after stopping (I.e. Being lost…). So seeing where I am relative to the route, way points is useful. There is no need for gps based compass for this.
-
Maybe I misunderstood, but that is one of the purpose of the breadcrumb view.
afair you can dismiss the “off route” message and navigate to that view, zooming it in or out to check your route and breadcrumb path -
@sartoric I haven’t seen that option on the trainer. If I stop moving, the navigation gives a message to move in some direction to get a directional indication (compass), but that is not necessary if I just want to see where I am relative to the route.
-
oh, I see
Trainer doesn’t have a compass, and GPS compass works only when you move, because it can’t recognize your direction (in that real moment) if not moving.
It simply doesn’t know if you’re heading North, south or whatever. That’s a limit of GPS compass
-
@sartoric exactly, but I just want to see my location relative to the route, not instructions where to go…
-
@Droro
Have you tried to press any button ? I can dismiss off route message that way … if I remember well
Maybe on trainer it’s mandatory to know your orientation, but it looks strange -
Yes it looks Strange and surely not cool. It merits some improvment.
Could be easy to show your location on breadcrumb, but the watch should decide which orientation to give.
Maybe last known GPS direction ? -
@sartoric hmm, OK I’ll try to test it. But for sure there is no zoom level on trainer. (although it says it has all features of spartan on suunto website).

Zoom is activated by long press on middle button
-
@Droro its the trainer right? You can hold middle button a bit to get the zoom options
-
You can dismsiss the message via middle button (or maybe any other button not 100% sure)

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos oh, not intuitive but definitely exists and very useful. Thanks. (I was just lost 5-6 times on a trail run, ha…)
OK, I guess my post is obselete, but may help other spartan users.
