@NickK I donāt have them on my phone, I guess. I mean my Movescount data from like 2012. Thatās on the website, but probably not in my app. And the web program didnāt go with Movescount. And even if, Iād have to sort all duplicates thatās already in Strava?
And I like to use a website to analyze year by year. I just kept Strava for cycling. But I guess that time is overā¦

I think that this post is getting quite hot. Some are very upset but as @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos says this is the first communication, and I would think that Suunto will try to find the best solution to everybody. Suunto surely knows that these watches without connection is nothing.
If you read my posts you will see clearly which is my opinion on the Suunto App and how should evolve, but I think, as a lot of us, that MC had an end date and we should propose solutions and make clear what we expect instead of being only angry. Besides of posting here we can also send emails to Suunto support explaining what we expect and want.
IMO is good that Suunto has announced this so early, now we can push and let know or requests.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Third party tools for route editing donāt support adding waypoints on routes or editing POIs. Is that something Suunto plans to quietly discontinue with Movescount?

@silentvoyager I think its in the plans waypoint support in routes. This information exists on GPX files afaik.

The cancelation of the service is exactly what I feared and predicted. Of course I try to stay optimistic that Suunto is going to offer a service at least similar, better at least identical in the important services, better even if improved compared to the current MC.
But - in a way this is what quite a number of members was asking for: a road map or you might even call it a vision. KUDOS!
Nevertheless, as we have all seen, that one year (SA) is a very short time for major improvements concerning the implementation of really new services and features (but not to much time to fix issues/bugs and implement some features mostly by copying them), this seems to be quite a challenge.
Although being a little sceptical, I am most certainly happy to be part and member of this developement (probably a critiquing member, most certainly not a critical ) -

Thatās a real pity ! I donāt have a compatible phone. Why would you trash a functional website ? Iām greatly disappointed for not being able to fully use my recent watch. I wouldnāt have bought it if I knew it !
Please restore/keep a web interface ! -

Iāve an original ambit, I supported suunto by paying a lot of money for it not long after they came out. It works fine and does everything I need it to. If Iām forced to replace it because suunto wonāt honour their obligations the replacement will NOT be a suunto product. -

@Mike-Green agree with you. If Suunto canāt provide an option to make pre Ambit3 watches running, just partner with someone who can, like openambit project!
I couldnāt care less about online services, right now I only connect my Ambit 2 Sapphire to movescount to import the files to sporttracks, but I want the option to āmessā with watch settings. If suunto canāt do that, at least some web based service. As someone said, garmin provided this type of service for older watchesā¦ -
@NickK If they are working on a web based version, they should tell us now rather than giving us a very thin explanation of what is happening. They should be able to tell how much use the website gets and plan / update us accordingly.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos if movescount is stopped how to get out the activities from the watch? If the app itself continues to work, ok, but if it stops it is the end. Also I guess someone who sometime ago spent 500eur on a Ambit 2 sapphire wonāt want to be that basic that couldnāt change settings. As someone said previously, this is business, but I guess Suunto forgot who were the people that prefered Suunto, people who valued products that last, that were stable and which can be trusted. Just hope that Suunto offers a solution for pre Ambit 3 watches, or do some partnership with openambit.

My Suunto Ambit 3 peak is a great watch that provides identical functionality to a spartan ultra - possibly better battery life than the spartan.
I purchased it before there was a mobile app - then went through the debacle that was the implementation of a terrible app that didnāt work or sync - for the next 12 months.
Have then dealt with a bunch of sync issues for large files that only third party open source people could fix.
Have then been pushed to this app two months ago despite it being in beta, for it to completely fail and then forced back to movescount because it wasnāt working.
Am now being told that i am being forced back to the suunto app.
Then this press release that gives zero relevant detail as to what is going to happen, and that people with perfectly good old watches will basically have to buy new ones (think of the environment for a second!)
This journey has been terrible! Why wouldnāt suunto just maintain functionality for all watches? and a desktop app.
Without a doubt, the minute my watch or those with Ambit 2 and below are not supported any longer by suunto i will never come back as a customer and will never recommend to anyone again. and will likely do my best to spread this news to the world where i can.

There are a lot of people which doesnāt know what the impact could be and would be pissed off at a later moment.
Suunto is making a very big failure now!
That only way they could people more or less a little bit happy is to announce very soon that the older watches would be supported in any way and that there still will be exist a website for a more detailled overview of the training.
Butt still many people would never buy a Suunto again after today. -

That is why corporations need to give full insights to their customers.If they had at least hinted what plans could materialise in 18 months time, it would have soothed many users. Even some of them would be happy.
But if you are announcing that you will be pulling the plug in 18 months and donāt give additional information, you could have waited 6 more and announced the actual full plans for the outage in 12 months.
In the end these watches are expected to have a long life. If nowadays people are keeping their phone 1 year more in average (which is hurting Samsung and Apple, for instance), why wouldnāt they make the same with their watches. Both the Ambits and the shiny Suunto 9 can provide the same functionality to many people.
