Suunto Spartan Trainer Wrist HR - Steps underreported by 30% to 40%
-
Hi,
I have been using Suunto spartan trainer wrist for almost 3 months. I have observed that the step count is down by 30% at least. I have done several tests to ensure that i am not miscounting. A round around my house takes 225 steps and my watch reports 160. I tried restarting my watch, but it did not help. Similarly, when I set the exercise as walk, it reported 5200 steps for 5.86 KM which i believe way less. However, my run step count is accurate and similar to my previous watch Fitbit (1200 steps per KM).
I am going nuts because of this as my walking is severely under reported. Can anybody please help ?

We had an update on Spartans to use a context engine. this way we can improve the accuracy of steps. We value the feedback and this will get better.
Context engine is something like google fit. Automatically detecs what you are doing.
I wonder how many steps not oyur fitbit but google fit or apple health reports +

I checked with Samsung Health app and the difference is still there. Let me try with Google Fit.

I have installed Google Fit on mobile and compared the steps. Here is the comparison. My Watch: 6927 steps. Google Fit: for the same is 8802 steps.

Hi,
I have also noticed a big difference between the steps detected my phone and on my Spartan Trainer Wrist HR.
After a small analysis I found that the stpes are not detected when the HR reading is going on.Can you anticipate when this issue will be solved?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos And on Suunto 9? There are steps counted correctly in my opinion. Are there different algorithms between watches?

@Václav-Král yes correct trainer has improved one

I get 30% less steps than before, but I think in the past I got too many. The direction is right, but would like the algorithm a bit less aggressive.
