Suunto Software update Q2 (2.56.18) - July 14th, 2026 - Vertical 2 and Race 2
-
@brechtvb the tide widget was there for diving devices. This update enabled it for your sportwatches.
People have asked for it many times and other “brands” have it as well. Its not like “Suunto spent time todo this while should have done something else” -
@brechtvb as basic info about high/low tide it can be usefull for travelers. Lately i was in place where beach is safe and accesible only while low tide. It would be great to have this info on wrist and don’t need to look for it on phone. It is about convinience.

@sky-runner
it would be totally reasonable to wear contact lenses. seriously, if you have problem reading street names on the map, how on earth you see anything under your feet and don’t trip on every root? distance is greater than arms length so it makes everything even harder to see.
take care of your eyesight for your own safety rather than demand bigger fonts -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I like fishing.

@mich-heller this is getting way off-topic, but have you heard of farsightedness?
My guess is he can see distant objects perfectly clearly, but it’s much closer objects that are out of focus. That is how it is for me as well.

I think the watches have many many features and not all are valuable to all users. It’s nice that we have the option to use them or not.
I’m pleased with the tide widget, as a sea kayaker I can see a use for it complimenting my normal tidal planning resources. But I do need an answer to my question about how the data is calculated.
As a mountain/fell runner a lot of the running data (primarily under ‘technique’ ) is irrelevant to me but I appreciate it’s maybe more use to road and track runners - I just ignore the bits that aren’t useful for me and set my watch up to show the data I actually need which is primarily HR, distance, time and ascent. -
I understand your point of view but do you also understand the other side?
The heart rate sensor of my watch often disconnects. That bug is present for about half a year now. I recently learned Suunto didn’t pay any attention to it. On top of that, my not that old race s is put on a low maintenance mode.
Do you understand the frustration when not that often used features (to say it mildly) are added while basic functionality doesn’t work 100%?
But this post is probably going to be deleted because we are not allowed to talk about this kind of choices for Suunto.

To me this Tide widget is very debatable. It only benefits people who actually live near a beach and also people who do a sport related to it. And even they probably use better tools for more refined information.
There are bugs to be fixed and features to be made which target larger audiences.

Bug: activity (cycling) stops recording when changing route during an activity. It says it is recording but the stats don’t increase and at the end the recorded final route is only partial.
In at least three days out cycling I needed to change route mid activity. I paused, went on navigation>route and selected another route. Then continued recoding the activity.
As a result - the watch only recorded parts of the entire route - sometimes the first leg, another time the second one - and another time just a bit at the beginning and a bit at the end.This has happened on both the q1 and this q2. Race 2

take care of your eyesight for your own safety rather than demand bigger fontsAs others said, it is a normal age related eyesight loss, which includes presbiobia - difficulty to focus on close-up objects due to natural lens inside eye becoming less flexible - and reduced contrast sensitivity, and increased sensitivity to glare from sapphire screen. I can see everything perfectly fine when running trails or driving.
The reduced contrast sensitivity is why I also often complained about the low contrast color choices on Suunto maps like trails rendered as green on green. What looks perfectly fine for younger people becomes increasingly difficult to read for people over 40 years old.

I just realized, that I can’t download/manage maps on watch, because download map item in Suunto app stuck on loading. Tried restart, turning bt on/off on both sides without success. V2 and Android app 6.11.8.
EDIT: Finally, after 100 attempts it loads it.
