Tech diver issues with Nautic
-
@garyt687 Same feelings and remarks…
In my club, we are several rebreather divers who have invested in this computer to take advantage of the CCR mode since it was announced shortly…
If Suunto wants to break into the market with this computer (which is a good machine), they will have to move much faster on our topics…
We kind of get the impression that it’s a secondary topic for them. -
@Ldive Suunto has a dedicated department for this. So its not secondary.

Hi agree
the app need a profound re-design regarding diving.
Basic :
log dives number
log dives separate dives by devices, when dive with Nautic & Nautical S the dive get duplicate
Tanks stats
gas used
PPo2
bottom time
surface interval
deepest dive
longest dive
ascend time
ascend rate
Total dives
Total EAN dives
Total Deep dives
Dive plans
Total time
Max time
Average time
Max depth
Average Max depth
Min SAC
Max SACIn my opinion should be a specific dive section inside the app only to log dives, and able to hide all the other activities metrics.

@garyt687
Totally agree!
You mentioned all the reasons this is my backup computer and not main…
This computer have the real potential to be shearwater killer…I expected the firmware release will be way more often, the feedback from the community will be way more welcome…

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos great feedback and reassuring, thanks for your feedback. I have to disagree slightly on the route maps and 3d maps though, I understand your feedback about how they are supposed to work, but for example if I do a simple dive along a reef A to B along a route we dive 10- times a month for the last 9 years - why would it appear on the app each time completely randomly, in completely different shapes, like intersecting triangles, circles, each time it is so vastly different and wrong that it looks like it has no idea at all. I honestly have not seen one single map yet that is remotely close to accurate and this is with all things being followed, starting on dive screen, locked gps, ensuring dive end is set to 1.5 mins just after o get back on the boat etc, and then the gps points are simply very wrong compared to where we are on a map. I’m not sure if this is because we are in the Philippines and some setting is wrong. I have tried to make sure all settings are correct based on research, but having no luck at all with this feature.
That said - two more - the compass - u mention above about setting it in a car park or something

️. Of course we set the compass once in the water, at the surface just before we descend, and it randomly cancels the bearing, sometimes does it, a few times it hasn’t, for no apparent reason. And yes the keys are locked always after compass set. This is simply feedback which I hope can be fixed - it 100% has some weird bugs with this.I think u addressed most of the other points, so thank you! I have one more:
The tissues don’t reset in the normal fashion of any other dive computer after we finish diving and turn off the computer. For example I dive, take 2 days off, come back, and turn on Suunto and the tissue compartments are all the same as just after end of last dive, as are CNS and OTU. This is an absolutely crazy thing that it is not counting down ‘off gassing’ when the computer is switched off, thsts like having a watch doesn’t keep time if u don’t wear it. This must be fixed. I’ve never seen any other dive computer do this. Happy to send screenshots comparing computers if needed. My Garmin shows at this point no nitrogen load, no CNS or OTU load as it’s done its job (also switched off), and my Suunto reading 50%+ nitrogen load after two days off, and same with OTU/cns. Please fix this also. P.s. I know u can reset tissues manually deep in the menus but this is not how dive computers work for normal operation, you shouldn’t have to reset them manually each time you use. Thsts a great feature when renting them out to different divers to reset - it’s a dangerous information feature when it’s not doing it by itself in all other cases.
All that said - thanks again for replying. If these several features are sorted and the app becomes more diver friendly I think it will start to take over the market. Thanks.

How to display and calculate EADD, gas density. This is also needed in the Nautic series
-
I agree with a lot of the above so hoping to see a solution on those. Besides those issues I have a problem with the ascent speed. My Shearwater isn’t responding on movement or says I’m well within limits where the suunto says I’m ascending to fast and even adds minutes of deco time if unlucky. Since I’m diving sidemount the movement of my arm seems to trigger the alarm at some occasions. (and no change in depth at that moment
) Need the movement from back to front to adjust cylinders or grab something from my bag.
I like the display size and could potentially have it as my primary but, it needs some tweaking on the technical diving side. -
@Sharkhugger I receive the same warnings simply by lifting my left arm to activate the deflator valve of my drysuit. It is often seen as a Ascent speed violation.
-
@Sharkhugger hi, also had issues with too much ascent speed (bubbles were still faster ;)), hopefully Suunto will fix this sooner than later but wanted to ask about other topic, you wrote that you also dive with Shearwater, how’s your deco comparison between it and Nautic? Since I received mine I had one occasion to compare with friends Perdix and at the end I had maybe 1min extra for 15min total deco time, so marginable difference but I wonder how that goes when used by same diver
-
I agree with the points above, the app is absolutely useless at this point. There should be a dedicated app for Suunto diving products.
