Charging base
-
I find the Suunto Race S’s magnetic charging base really bad. I need to position it more and more times before it starts charging. Sometimes it interrupts charging even though at first contact the lightning icon appears.
Anyone with this bad experience? -
@sindavide
yes me too!!! -
@sindavide Yes, the magnets are not strong enough for the base to just perfectly snap in place. But you can put the charging base on a flat surface, then place the watch on top. It is easier to align the crown/middle button with base cable, although it will charge the other way around as well.
You can also monitor the charging progress in the Suunto app, especially if you don’t charge to 100%. -
@sindavide I have the same bad experinence as you.

@sindavide Yes it sucks. I’ve bought cheap backup and it works better than original one. Stronger magnets.

@sindavide I’ve had somewhat similar problems at times (intermittent charging, or worse, intermittent data connection with computer, with my Suunto Run). One big solution has been to clean the watch contacts, as oils from skin can buildup on the metal, making for a poor connection quality to the cable. Cleaning is as simple as a quick scrub of the contacts with a damp (warm water) cotton swab and drying THOROUGHLY before connecting to power. Using hand soap in that process helps every so often too. Definitely been a better experience since I started doing that…
