      I may be doing something wrong, or have missed some vital point, but if so please be gentle…

      I’ve been using the Race S for a couple of months now and I have yet to get a VO2 Max measurement. I don’t run, but I cycle regularly and push myself into the red heart rate zone (especially when cycling up hills) as recorded on the activity.

      What do I need to do to get a measurement?

        @Robin-C-B, hi, VO2max estimation works only with running activities.

          @Robin-C-B VO2max is overrated. It’s just an estimate, anyway.

          Garmin uses it for its analyses, and that’s why people mistakenly think they really need it.

            @Matúš thanks - that’s a shame. It would seem a useful tool for cyclists too.

              @maszop I don’t doubt that, but it would still be an interesting metric to track over time (but not interesting enough to pay the cost of a professional job - or take up running…)

                @Robin-C-B maybe a bit off-topic

                Is there an “official” or a Suunto-only metric that defines a performance metric based on only real numbers: metric=f(heartrate, pedal-power, cadence, speed, road incline, time)

                Averaged over time or not?

                  @Robin-C-B 1.
                  Suunto Support – VO₂max / Fitness level

                  • “The fitness level (VO2max) is estimated during running activities using heart rate and speed.”
                  • “This requires outdoor running with GPS and heart rate data.”

                  Suunto App – description “Fitness level” (in-app)

                  • “Fitness level is an estimate of your VO2max based on your running performance.”
                  • “Calculated from heart rate response to running speed.”

                    @brechtvb

                    Functional Threshold Power (FTP) is the best measure, but I can’t see how Suunto would measure that

                      Thanks - I guess the key word there is running…

                      I’m looking for it with cycling
