Will OpenSuuntoPlus be coming to Suunto Run?

Technically why Run isn’t included, is because when they developed Run, they made a new OS for it; it does not share the same OS as Race/Vertical.
As for why Suunto did that, I suspect part of it was due to the price they wanted to set Run, low enough to attract people. However, at the same time, if the Run had the exact same feature set as the Race, and was cheaper, then why would anyone get the Race?
Therefore, the design of the Run was such that it would have less features than the Race and Suunto could then charge a lower price for Run while keeping some features to encourage people to spend more to get the Race.
SuuntoPlus is one of the main features the Race has that the Run does not.

GrazieNo, you misunderstand. The idea is not you spend 490 after spending 240, but instead if you had done research, you’d spend the 490 instead of the 240 if the Suunto+ functionality was something you needed. It’s not that you’re supposed to buy two watches but instead the watch that meets your needs.
Note I wasn’t the one who made the decision on what features Run was not going to get. I’m simply making a guess at what Suunto was thinking.
They want the Run at an entry price point, and Race at a higher point with more features. What features do you leave off the Run to accomplish this?
If the Run and Race have the exact same features, then they should have the same price and there’s no need for them both to exist.
I do think with Suunto now encouraging more people to make S+ apps it’s weird the entry model cannot run them. If it was a “base feature” then that’s more encouragement for more people to make apps.
Anyway, perhaps Suunto will change their minds and add on the capability to run S+ apps from the Run, but given the Run is a separate OS, it’s not simply “putting back” something they took away but instead re-engineering the feature for that OS.
Finally, if you think the Run is overpriced, then what watch would you prefer instead? Perhaps Suunto was not the best fit for you to begin with.

Il Suunto Race 2 per me è troppo caro. Il Run va benissimo come prezzo. -

When the Run was released and they were talking about a new operating system, I thought it would be the beginning of something that would spread to other devices, and the low price would be the downside of being the first to use an immature system. But with the release of OpenSuuntoPlus, which excludes the Run, it seems the Run will remain an unsuccessful experiment. The feeling right now is that the purchase was a mistake and the watch won’t evolve much further. This makes me consider buying another device, possibly from a different brand to avoid these kinds of nonsensical changes, like Coros.

I wouldn’t say it’s been an unsuccessful experiment, but it does seem to distance itself from the brand’s other watches, as if it were from another brand. Let’s see…

@Pep-Carbonell I think the idea was to have something specifically for road runners (marketing seems to agree with it) with the assumption that they will not need a lot of fancy S+ features. And it is in a way a successful experiment in my opinion, if I would only run roads I would be tempted to get more simplistic variant. But lets see

@aiv4r I agree, although I also use the Suunto Run for trail running. The point is, in my humble opinion, that when you open the Suunto Plus apps the game changes, it opens up many more possibilities for road and trail running.
We’ll see
