Come on Suunto, make a little effort to make Run compatible with third-party training programmes.

This comment should be in the section: Feature Suggestions.
        Even though it concerns Run.

@ADidier No this belongs in the Suunto Run category as the Run is the only watch that does not support Suunto+ apps. The guides from 3rd parties are essentially Suunto+ apps. Since the Run is Suunto’s budget run-focused watch I doubt this will change. My opinion and not that of Suunto.

@Brad_Olwin I hope you’re wrong 😧 and that Suunto will manage to integrate at least third-party training programmes – for my half marathon preparation – and a few running tests – e.g. Cooper – because it’s running.
I agree with not having mapping, but at least for running it should be complete.👍

Suunto went out of their way to make an entire new OS for the Run, rather than leveraging the work they did on the Race and Vertical. They limited sports modes on Run and did not give the ability to run Suunto+ apps. There is no marketing by Suunto to indicate they intend to give Run these capabilities. You likely should have got a Race / Race S / Race 2 instead.

@ADidier I understand and I like the Run a lot. However, enabling 3rd party workouts is likely to require S+ and I don’t think that will happen. Again, my opinion. At least you can make Interval workouts to match your 3rd party. That is what I do when I use the run.

@Brad_Olwin, I understand that the old operating system of the Race 2, Vertical 2 requires an addition in the form of additional applications, it was designed like this. I just hope that with this new software platform, Suunto will be able to communicate with third parties such as other watch brands (Garmin, Coros) that do not use Suunto+.

In the meantime, I hand transpose my Runna plans into interval training.

At the moment, there’s no sign the new OS used for the Run will be continued to be used. The Race 2 and Vertical 2 use the older OS and those watches were released after the Run. The Run OS was described as “an experiment” not as a direct successor.
