Verical 1 disconnects from the HR belt in cold weather
-
This is not my personal problem, but that of my friend, who bought a Suunto Vertical 1 in December 2025 at my suggestion.
The watch works at home and at the gym with HR belts such as Polar H10 and Garmin HRM Pro, but when it is cold outside while running, it disconnects from the HR belt and cannot reconnect.
What has been done:
- battery replacement in the Polar H10 and Garmin HRM Pro belts,
- both belts work indoors, where it is warm,
- both belts initially connect properly when it is cold, but after 5-10 minutes the Suunto loses connection with the belts,
- with the Polar watch, both belts work in the cold!
The last point convinces us that something is wrong with the Suunto watch, because my Vertical 1 model works in all conditions, even at -20 degrees.
The watch was sent back to Suunto in the Czech Republic, but they found that there was no damage and that everything was working.
Yes, it works - but inside the building! It does not work in the cold.
Of course, a hard reset was also performed.
If anyone has the opportunity, please provide me with the case number or ticket number so that something can actually be done with this watch and it can be tested in cold weather, or please refund my money or send me another Vertical 1 model.
Ticket: R20260203712740-1 and 82252697029208170327
Thank you in advance.
I also have a video: She says: the watch lasted 6.5 minutes (-4 degrees C), now it’s losing the heart rate from the belt…

@Adrian.S I used the Vertical 1 with Suunto HR belt for XC Skiing between -5 and +5 Degrees. No problems there, but it could be some Suunto2Suunto Magic going on there. Like the inbuild memory

@Adrian.S Where I live it’s been a cold winter and I have been running in -20 with no problems. I’m using Vertical 1 + Suunto belt
