GPX Import into SA - How To Guide (Android)
-
@ColdBeer I thought it was something new. I did that with mine last week.
-
@Jonathan-Newby Yeah me too. But now it’s maybe official? Or I don’t know However I haven’t found any other option
-
Even after the 3.53 update the Suunto App still isn’t selectable as Open With… app for me. Tried several file explorers, but no luck.

I mentioned it in another thread and got asked to post about it. Seems like it only works for some which may be why it was kept under wraps

Please post here for GPX import that doesn’t work.

Hi mates, try the Open it! File Explorer.

Hi,
First of all I’m very glad I found this forum and this post. Googling for GPX import for SA is very unsuccessful…I have SA v3.54.3 and I exported a route manually created in movescount to GPX. Opening this GPX on phone (oneplus2 android 9) does open the SA but remains still just showing a zoomed out worldmap.
Just to try if it worked with another GPX I exported a route from Strava run by some random person. Opening this on the same phone configuration opened the SA and within seconds showed me the option to save the route.
Is there something special I have to do to Movescount (exported) route to make it a valid import?

You shouldn’t, but you can try (if not already done) to enable BT and connect watch before importing the GPX.
That version of SA sometimes get stuck during saving (an maybe import) if not connected to the watchyou can also check this : https://forum.suunto.com/topic/1476/gpx-import-doesn-t-work-for-you-post-here

No luck.
I also tried the 0_1542738001197_BigFoot40.gpx but that didn’t work for me either.[Edit] Well,
Now I reopened my own route in movescount, changed the route to closed and the mode of routing to “Don’t follow roads” (I only have dutch, so don’t know the exact translation). Exported it again and Now it imported fine into the SA.Almost the same for the bigfoot route. I imported that into movescount, exported, imported into SA. Now it works fine…

it works!
can I buy you a beer?
This was the main reason I did not install the suunto app until today. -
I finally got this working. It’s not that simple because Suunto App is not on the list to open GPX file if you using dropbox, drive etc app in your phone. This depends what Android model you have, probably.
But when I opened GPX-file from web page (dropbox) I was able to select Suunto App from the list.
I think this is huge problem because there definitely should be importing option in the Suunto App itself. Can you please add that in next version. Thank you

Hey guys, good morning.
yesterday I tried to import an exported Komoot GPX file into SA, in the same way I have done multiple times before. But I get an error that shows:
Sorry, your file can not be importet because its damaged or wrong format.
(my onw translation)Anybody with same problems?

@Oli_Ver me too!! Only opens GPX with 500 points Max.
-
@Oli_Ver Happened to me also… I had to import GPX to Movescount and than download it again so that Suunto App recognised it as correct. Not sure what is going on in the background.
-
@Dušan-Ković thanks, will try in that way!
Update: yes, it worked for me too with Movescount export!
-
@jordiigm I have no issues opening much larger files - haven’t tried anything over about 3000 points but currently have 6x 200k rides for a trip next week all loaded correctly.
-
File size is not an issue.
-
I tried to import GPX to Movescount and then export it again and that way SA opens any file size. But importing directly doesn’t work for me with some files.
-
The main solution of this topic works very well.
I use SA on my XIAOMI MI8 (Android). And I create my routes on MC in order to have them in the most compatible format possible with SA. I import all my routes into MC for those I do not create personally. Moreover, I myself have created itineraries of more than 1000 points but if I want to import them into my watch I divide into several parts the more practical and precise route for the trail navigation.
On my mobile, I have FATMAP and SA.
On my computer or mobile internet browser, I export the MC route by registering it to a google drive GPX. I open my cloud from my mobile to “open with” the route. SA opens it automatically, it only remains to save or modify some details. The route is imported into SA with the others. I can then enjoy my trail runs .
I then check the routes to use on my Suunto 9 Baro.Anthony for France
