Sunnto race S + Garmin HRM 200 zonesense "waiting for data"
-
Hello everyone,
I have been using the race S for quite a while now and everything has been working great.
I recently bought Garmin HRM 200 chest-strap heart rate monitor.
I have been wanting to get the Zonesense metrics, however no matter what I tried, when starting a workout (specifically Running workout) The zonesense view says “waiting for data” and never seem to get it. Today I did a 50 minute workout and this never seemed to resolve throughout the workout.
When starting the workout I of course chose Zonesense from Sunnto+, and I did see that the HRM which I have previously paired was showing as connected with green background at the top of the screen.
I will also mention that I unpaired the HRM from anything (basically my phone) other than the Race S because I saw a discussion online suggesting it but It didn’t seem to do anything - still “waiting for data”.Some additional version information -
Sunnto race S: 2.48.16 (seems to be latest version)
Garmin HRM 200: 5.10 (seems to be latest version)I appreciate your help in resolving this.

@harristyle please export the workout to a FIT file and open it with fitfileviewer or runallyzer and look for r-r data.
-
@2b2bff I’ve opened the fit file from the previous workout over at https://www.fitfileviewer.com/ and I couldnt see any column that is related to RR data.
-
@harristyle and that’s a problem… But I don’t know how to help you. I guess the HRM is set to not use a secure connection, because otherwise you wouldn’t get a pairing with the phone…
I only have the HRM DUAL and it works without issues…

@harristyle
Like @2b2bff said, according to fit file content, it looks like HR Belt didn’t send R-R data, thus, no ZoneSense.
I don’t know this Garmin 200. Could there be a garmin app to “unlock” such data sharing? Or like these data exclusively broadcasted to Garmin devices? Or…
.
Or something else on watch not receiving these data…
Or fit file not exporting correctly…You could also export the json file for this activity, and also check in it for R-R data.

@harristyle I think in a prior discussion the issue is if the belt is connected to an iPhone R-R data from the Garmin belt is only sent to the phone. Disconnect the belt from the phone and it should work.

@Brad_Olwin As I said in my original post this wasn’t the issue.
This issue fixed itself and I am now able to see zonesense data on the watch and in the app, and I am not sure but believe one of the 2 following things fixed it:
- HRM 200 version updated to 5.40
- Looking at the HRM 200 manual (Manual) I realized the device have 2 connection types: secure and open. Secure is when the device blinks green twice and open when it blinks green three times. I am not sure what was the connection type when I originally tried to make it work, but when trying again after opening this thread I made sure to use the open connection state.
My hypothesis is that one of the two fixed my issue.
Leaving this for future reference and future google searches, as when I searched this I didn’t find anything related.
