I’ve had my Race 2 now one month and used it continuously since then, trying to learn it and get used to it.
I can from a fenix 7 and I have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Its never easy choosing a new watch and the net is full of opinions and views on why u shouldn’t buy the one u want! From all the online negativity u could be forgiven for thinking absolutely nothing works as it should!
Fortunately for me everything seems to work exactly as i want and has been an improved experience from Garmin.
GPS accuracy has been spot on for my rides and never had any issues at all.
I pair my watch with a garmin hrm pro and it works perfectly, giving me zonesense metrics and the more I learn about this, the more I appreciate zonesense for being a really useful and powerful tool for training.
The optical heart rate sensor on the watch, in my experience, has actually been surprisingly accurate as well. Even through primarily i use a chest strap, in my comparisons its been remarkably accurate.
I’m getting more used to the app and definitely prefer it to garmin for the information it gives me and way it is displayed.
I am still learning my way around this new ecosystem but its a very positive process. One surprise yesterday was when, while at work, I did an indoor treadmill run and somewhat unexpectedly when I checked the metrics afterwards it had somehow even worked out the distance I’d run on the machine and it was spot on! I’ve no idea how this is actually done as it was not connected to the treadmill in anyway, but I’m impressed!
The only thing I miss is the ability to do spot hrv measurements but possibly this will come later with an update. That would really make it a very complete package. One other suggestion I saw which I think would be amazing, is if we could ever flip the display, as I wear my watch on the right hand. I dont know of any other watches that do this so would be cool if suunto was out there with that.
Good job suunto with this one and I’m very happy with my decision.

@TED77 It’s very interesting to hear your opinions coming from Garmin. I sometimes think about trying a Fenix 7 Pro, but I never end up doing it. I don’t know what a Fenix 7 Pro could offer me compared to my Vertical and my Race S.

@TED77 Then, in this case, less is more? I think this is my opinion here 😁
