It’s probably similar to activewear. Since they’re made of synthetic materials, they tend to smell bad. The solution is detergents for activewear. I occasionally clean the belt (without the sensor) with baking soda, and after each workout I rinse the belt under running water and I don’t have these problems, Even though I’ve been using the belt for several years.😊

The issue is that it smelled like chemicals from day one when I ordered a new one. It doesn’t have anything to do with cleanliness.

To me, the smell resembles that of leather products that have been in contact with water for some time.

I replaced the battery in my Suunto Smart Sensor, but now the R-R intervals are unstable and the values jump up and down. I’d like to know if I did something wrong during the process.

@Mff73 Does it really look that silly or stupid?
In this thread, I just saw users who have the same HR belt model as mine, so I was hoping someone might have experience with changing the battery.
If it came across as stupid, then I apologize.

@sartoric No worries. I already threw it away, including the watch. Thanks for the advice, and I wish you prosperity and success.

I use the strap for every running and cycling activities and some other sports, it’s around 500 hours a year so the have work to do !

@Tieutieu now I understand. I had two heart rate monitor straps. Both broke down after just under a year, sending completely erratic heart rate readings. I thought I was just unlucky, but it seems this is a common problem with Suunto. Currently, I’m very happy with a Polar and a Coros strap.
