Will the Suunto athletic 7 loop strap improve HR accuracy?
-
I have a S9PP and really like the watch but the OHR accuracy is quite poor for most of the activities I do. Accordingly, I usually use an armband HR monitor. Does anyone think that getting the loop strap will help with the watch wrist heart rate accuracy?
Note: during activity I wear the watch 2 finger widths above my wrist and have tried different amounts of tightness and still the accuracy is poor unless I’m on a stationary bike or similar.

it could help a bit, but for reliable HR readings you’ll need chest strap

I know this is a bit off topic, but I didn’t want to start a new post.
Please stop buying the black one
! I’ve been chasing it for over a month, and as soon as it becomes available, it sells out in the blink of an eye! -
I basically have forgotten this watch has an OHR. No custom straps have ever changed it for me. I’m wearing a chest strap even for a morning workout. S9PP is not a bad watch, but its OHR is beyond bad. The HRV report in the morning is probably the only thing it’s good for. But it already seems relevant for me with the standard strap.

Have this strap since a few days now. Its great that it is much lighter, but the Race S is getting a little bit head-heavy. Its okay, but I wouldn’t use it with heavier watches. For Run and Race S Titanium its a perfect fit.
I didn’t like it at the beginning as it was stiff, but wearing it made it softer. From my experience its not better for OHR per se, but I like that you can tighten easily during ther run. As I noticed cadence lock today running downhill a quick tightening of the strap resolved it in seconds.Long answer short: It helps in certain situations
Edit: @Hari-Seldon: Black one is still sold out, so I got Coral. Love the colour
