Battery condition of an older model watch?
-
I am looking to purchase a Suunto vertical solar. My question is what the state of the battery is, if for example it was manufactured 2 years ago or even older. How can one measure the battery health of a newly purchased watch which could have been manufactured several years ago. Is this a valid question? Thanks.

@Tim-Elliott No idea if you can test it, but I own a Vertical Solar from the beginning and haven’t noticed any decline in battery performance over the years.
-
Are you purchasing a new watch or a used one? Used - may be affected by the number of charge cycles- but my Vertical over 2 years old still lasts 3 weeks or a little more on a full charge. New - should not be an issue IMO.

Also using my SV since very first day it was released. Intensively used since then, and I can’t notice any battery life loss ; it works like a charm

with the current battery drain issue, and not able to charge the watch… it’s difficult to answer your question…
More seriously, without a software issue, the watch still has a very good battery.

@Wilson75 Somehow the software bug doesn’t affect all the Vertical 1 watches. I don’t suffer from the battery drain and charge issues after the last firmware update so there must be a magical combination of settings or sensors that causes the issues.

Mine V1 is 2 years old and no issues. I have luckily never suffered any bugs, you read about them a lot on the Forum. But people without issues don’t normally have much to say!
Before that I had the 9baro. No issues after I think 5 years. Might have been 4!
Suunto watches in my experience age very well. Screen is also like new.

A new one. Reading all your replies gives me more confidence to buy a SV. Had a Spartan Sport for 5 years with no issues until I ran the battery right down on an activity and now it won’t recharge. Time for an upgrade!

To all the responders who have had no issues that’s great and I used to be one of you wondering how these other people have so many issues. Well now I’m one of those people with the battery drain issue so just because it hasn’t happened to you doesn’t mean it won’t you have been lucky so far.
