@nseslija I do understand. Gee, what’s wrong with you people always being so aggressive here. Let’s discuss functions, bugs and Suunto stuff here - what is wrong with you when you just post to annoy others?

@OutdoorMan thanks for your support. I really would love not to be forced to think about the watch I’m using. 😢

@Olaf-Gottschalk don’t worry, I understand your frustration. Looking at the amount of crashes you had I would already return or sell the watch.

Believe it or not… I had Polar for many years and that last watch I had crashed almost on a weekly basis. So I am glad to be away from Polar. Garmin, I don’t like them at all.
So Suunto was my choice and I was actually really happy that almost all of my initial problems regarding the Race (missing features) have been fixed in the 2 years I’ve had the device.

So, I was actually almost about to buy the Race 2. But since I highly doubt that the new watch does not crash… I am hesitating now…

@Olaf-Gottschalk Honestly I would send it to service, and if comes back with no issues, I would send it again, and again. This feels like a faulty piece of hardware … although I am not an expert. I did that once and the watch was back in less than a week.

The problem is: I am not willing to go without a watch. Not a single day. If Suunto offered a replacement for direct exchange, no problem. Otherwise I would have to buy a brand new watch on Amazon and return it. It’s just a pain.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos and again. Fourth time this week. Zero power after a short coffee break.

                  alt text

So, since the latest update on the BT stack produced this problem out of nowhere, it MUST be a bug.
I used the very same pedals (and they did not receive any firmware update in years!) since I got the Race.
The only thing that changed is the Race firmware, specifically the BT management.

I was VERY HAPPY at first as this latest update finally enables me to pair more than one sensor of that kind, but this bug is driving me completely crazy.
If I didn’t have the Wahoo, almost all of my rides would need multiple starts and thus multiple sessions.
It’s simply annoying and must be fixed on Suunto side.

I don’t know how to put this, for me the device is now broken. Broken by firmware updates.

That’s kind of interesting. Is there anything that ties the behaviour between the two watches together? I have a Garmin 955, a Polar V3 and a Suunto Race and I’ve never had a crash in any of them? Could there be some commonality for your use case?

So, after 9 days of riding outdoors with coffee breaks - in 7 out of 9 rides, after a pause, the power stays at 0 Watts when resuming.

This was never an issue in almost 2 years prior to the latest Bluetooth update.

Please tell me how Suunto can get a fix done for this bug?
                        Thanks.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thanks! I just am completely unsure. I contacted the Support Chat weeks ago, they were not at all helpful and I asked them to file a ticket, I sent protocols, as I always do, but I never heard back. It’s a talk to /dev/null from my perspective…

I honestly do not understand the support process at Suunto at all. When sending protocols, how does anybody receiving those know what my problem is? How is it linked to any specific problem at all?

I assume that you have at least 2 power meters paired to the watch as this was what you had been requesting for a long time.

If you indeed do have 2 power meters paired to the watch (e.g. power meter pedals and indoor trainer) then you could try to unpair the indoor trainer before your next outdoor ride to see if that could work as a temporary solution for your outdoor rides (until Suunto fixes the root cause problems in multiple sensor sensor support).

If the issue is related to a SW bug in the multiple sensor support implementation then my thinking (hope?) is that the buggy part of the new multiple sensor code would not be executed if you only have one power meter paired. Maybe worth trying?!

I didn’t find anything that I could do except not stopping my ride for a coffee break… 😞

But - this one is interesting: while going through the menus just a few hours before and without having read your message, I stumbled across Airplane mode being on. Didn’t remember that I ever set it on, especially because everything worked like it should, BT being on and such.

What does that mode even do if it does not disable BT?

                                    Switched it off now.

But the main issue is: I would need a longer ride with coffee break to investigate further, but my holidays are now over and I am back in the cold…

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I got another finding for you, Dimitrios:

You stated in a post before that when disconnected, power should show “–” and not 0…
Well, that is actually not true.

Tested it with my Kickr Bike! While connected and doing a workout, I stopped cycling and unplugged the bike and took off my heart rate strap.

Well, the HR showed “–” like you described, but power happily just shows 0 even though there definitely is no power meter online anymore.

                                      alt text

So, something is off here or at least not like you expected.
