Watch face bugged
-
Since the last Suunto Ocean Update release we have Access to new watch face.
Sadly they are bugged : race 2 and outback adventure -
@Jean-Philippe-REY has been discussed in other threads.
The watchfacea are fine, just the Ocean Firmware is not ready to display all components of them.
I already suggested Suunto to disable them from the selection in Ocean, until it is working. -
I isazi moved this topic from [Android] Issues & Bugs
-
@Egika ok so the argument to get only one update per year because of the safety requirement of the multi sports diving device is kind of bullshit… They even didn’t test the few functionalities of this update…
-
@Jean-Philippe-REY “one update per year because of the safety requirement of the multi sports diving device” is this an official statement?
-
@Gunnar
There is no official Statement. Just „Tester“ and „moderator“ Talking in the Name of Suunto.”‘Has already been discussed several times“’ „was clearly communicated,“ and „is already known“ are the most common responses.

@Jean-Philippe-REY Some of the watch faces require newer firmware as stated by @Egika. @tinten.addi and @Jean-Philippe-REY the testers here are spending some of their valuable time to help users and provide information that we hope is helpful to you. The least you can do is be civil. We are not required to post here or provide any information to users. We are doing so to try and help. We are not employed by Suunto nor are we informed of management decisions. So, we do our best to tell you what is the likely updates for the Ocean. Second, we identified the issues with some watch faces and asked that watch faces that will not work with Ocean firmware not be available. So, this issue was tested and was found, Suunto has not decided how to solve it.

And that @Brad_Olwin is exactly the problem. As I already mentioned in another post (Suunto Ocean SW update 2.40.56 (2025 Q3)), I don’t want to attack anyone personally, but I do want to express my opinion and frustration here.
As a “tester” you certainly receive certain benefits, and you are naturally not very inclined to speak negatively about the hand that feeds you. So you are caught between two sides. Nevertheless, by now you too should have noticed that quite a few people in the community are dissatisfied, and that is precisely why Suunto should be urged to make an official statement.
We keep hearing (from non-official sources) how meticulously the Ocean software is supposedly tested, and yet the same old, well-known issues keep showing up. So how about an official statement: What exactly is Suunto’s plan with the Ocean? How often will there be updates? When will the premium model finally surpass the cheaper models in terms of software? How long does Suunto intend to continue active development?
I’m really sorry to say this, but Suunto truly feels like it is on a sinking ship right now.

@tinten.addi When the Suunto Ocean thread was initiated a Suunto employee stated that the updates for the Ocean would be less frequent than for the non-diving watches. I suppose that is your official statement. The testers are continuing to test firmware on the Ocean so development IS ongoing. I would image at some point, new Ocean hardware would emerge as we have seen for Race and Vertical but I have no knowledge of this, just a hunch. Ocean hardware for the exercise parts is likely similar to the Vertical 1 so there may be hardware limitations for some future development.
For many of the questions you are asking, Suunto has not provided answers of this type for any of their watches. -
@Brad_Olwin
Once again, I don’t want to get personal here… nevertheless. Here is some of YOUR comments in my post:-„ Why you bought Suunto ocean?“ -
„Updates for the Ocean will be behind the other sports watches as has been clearly stated but the watch support continues. I suspect but have no direct knowledge that firmware development will continue.“
„I field test for Suunto but not an employee. I believe a Suunto employee commented on the forum that the Ocean would be slower to update.“
„Not an official statement but from someone that has more knowledge than me.“
These contributions are neither helpful nor do I feel valued as a Suunto customer. The opinions and “help” from the so-called “testers” are counterproductive for me and should seriously be reconsidered. You keep going around in circles, repeating the same phrases—perhaps even because they are dictated by Suunto. Therefore, I seriously have to ask myself: how am I supposed to reach competent Suunto support to share my opinion or suggestions for improvement?! Through the chat AI on the homepage?!
A glimpse into the future: Suunto has botched the Ocean series and lost the divers. In 3–4 years, Suunto will have disappeared from the diving market—except maybe with a compass!
I wish the unpaid Suunto testers a pleasant time before it’s all over. Due to this dialogue, I will start looking for alternatives. I wish all users much success and good luck with further development. I hope this post, despite all criticism, will not be deleted, and that I won’t have to share it in other forums and platforms for it to be seen by users. Out!

@tinten.addi Sorry you are so unhappy. As I stated before if I was still diving (I used to be a dive master) and running ultras as I am now the Ocean would be fine. It has everything I need, maybe not everything I might want but all I need.
From your statements it is entirely unclear what your issues are. What specifically is not working for you and what do you need fixed? That would provide actionable information. -
@Brad_Olwin I am sorry if I was too rude, also I was not aware that only volonteers testers was handling this forum. The disappointed messages I sent was to Suunto and definitly not too you guys. Every answer I get from you is really appreciated even if they are not what I was expecting.
I am the kind of guy to watch all kind of tests / videos/ guide about what I buy and I am expecting excellences. The thing is that those days it is almost impossible to have an accurate and non commercial vision of a product.
Now I feel that I was mislead / cheat with my Suunto Ocean. I probably expect too much… But understand that with a more basic watch from G, I had many more features regarding my running expérience.Again sorry that my messages was rude but don’t take it personnally, they are all directed to Suunto internal team development. We are lucky to have you guys.
