How to restore a deleted sport mode

I accidently deleted a sport mode in my Vertical watch. I read that a reset is needed to restore it. Will a reset cause a data/history loss? Is this done on the phone? I ask because the sport was deleted on the phone, not the watch. It seems a bit ridiculous that if something is removed, it takes significant effort to restore it.
