Weather updates

I noticed that the Suunto Run updates the weather on the watch quite slowly. I found that I need to open the app on my phone first, and wait for it to sync with the watch, only then the weather gets updated. Moreover, when I check the watch before syncing, it says ‘synced 12 hours ago’. Could this be because the Suunto Run doesn’t have Wi-Fi, or is there another setting I need to change?

@ahstreak
yeah support told me the app only syncs with the watch when it’s open and not backgrounded. And this is the only means the Run has to sync anything including weather.
Edit: weather actually does appear to sync periodically without me needing to open the app (though it is running in background). I’ve not opened the app since yesterday but my watch weather widget updated 1 hr ago. -
@ahstreak as i know it sync from phone regarding you have wifi or not. But is there any chance you use iOS device. In iOS and i think it is apple limitation, app must be open in background. And it must have permission for backgound refresh too. This is problem with all 3rd party apps on iOS not just suunto.
Additional note: on iOS is best never to close apps, just keep them running on background if they need to update/backup/sync in regular intervals.

@ahstreak I had that problem too, but since I allowed the Suunto app to always access my precise location, also in the background, this problem has been gone. Now every time I check the weather it’s just there.
