When I use the Suunto Run to swim in the pool the total length of the session is correctly measured but I cannot analyze the training because I’m not able to see the the time for each length. The app only reports the time per 1000m.

Is there a way to see the time per length (50m in my case)?

@Pobyms known Suunto Run limitation for pool swimming, not sure if this will come.

        SRS Ti
SRun (primarily road runner so testing SRun is a must ;))
A3P (drill mode for pool swimming 🤦🤷)
        Galaxy Z Flip 3 / Galaxy S24+

@herlas Ok, I thought I was doing something wrong. It’s a pity. The watch calculates the distance correctly, it means that it has all the information needed to show this info. My (very) old Garmin Swim and my Suunto ambit 3 were able to show this info 10 years ago (or even more).

@Pobyms I think the Run isn’t designed for that. The distance is never really right for me. I guess I’m not turning cleanly enough.

But I thought I saw the time in mm:ss/100m on my watch. Now I looked at the log again, but I don’t see it there. But in the app, it says, for example, average pace 02:50/100m. It always seems to be 100 meters, regardless of whether the track is 25 or 50 meters. It’s just the pace. You can’t use laps either, so you can press the button and the number is recorded, but it’s not displayed anywhere🤷

@Yves_ Yes, the average time per 100m is shown in the app but sometimes I swim 400m crawl, 400m drills, … for example and I would like to be able to check the split time because there is a huge difference for each training block. Even the possibility to press the button is not very useful because when I start the training in the pool the watch goes into lock mode and I must press the two buttons during 2-3 seconds to unlock it.

For me the watch calculates well the distance (unless when I train using the kickboard, but this is normal).

I always unlock the key lock right at the start, if only so I can press pause. I don’t see the point in the key lock; it’s enough for me if the touchscreen is locked.

But the lap button doesn’t do anything anyway. The only workaround seems to be to start a new activity for each training block.

I seem to have the same exact problem: I cannot get info from my pool swims.

I did a swim of 3100m, broken into 300m warmup, with multiple stops at the wall, followed by 3 blocks, 1000m + 1000m + 800m, each continuous and divided by a 30-40 sec stop at the wall. My app shows none of this. Under “Manual” laps - I used the bottom button to try to mark some of the sets - it shows 75m + 2200m + 800m, which do not match my bottom button presses (I pushed the button according to the blocks I mentioned above), and they don’t add up to the 3100m total distance:

                  IMG_3709.jpeg

I have also seen in screen captures from users here in the forum a dedicated column for the swim style (freestyle, breaststroke, etc) which I cannot see in my activity. Also, in those screen captures (using other watches than the Run) there is a column called “Interval”, while I just see the “Manual” “1 km” “5 km” “10km”.

Is this expected ? I assume the Suuton Run is capable of auto detecting laps, stroke styles, pauses, etc, just like its specs pages says it does, for pool swimming ?

@herlas why do you write this ? According to the specs page for the Suunto Run, it’s supposed to do that and much more:

It should get metrics by length in the pool, as well as stroke type and automatic intervals. I currently also have trouble with mine, in seeing all this detail - I don’t.

@Yves_ @Pobyms I found out that the poll swimming data fields “Current lap: swimming distance (Manual)” and “Current lap: duration (Manual)” are responsive to the bottom button. This is, when I push it those counters reset, which allows to start a new interval freshly (I guess that Suunto calls intervals “laps” ?).

But, I have the same problem as reported here: the specs on the product page of the Suunto Run for Swimming advertise that the Suunto Run should detect swim strokes, swim style, pauses and breakdown a pool swim into multiple intervals if there are pauses in between. Mine does none of these…
Here is a pool swim I just did a couple hours ago, where I swam 5x 50m, 3x 300m and finally 1x 1000m, all crawl with long glides after pushing from the wall. Notice as there is no breakdown into intervals whatsoever, no swim style detection and the last column (stroke average) is empty:

                      IMG_3747.jpeg

I’m not sure why another user here (@herlas) mentions above that this is a known issue and unsure “if this will come”, considering the product page advertises the watch as capable and supposed to do exactly these things … this is a deal breaker for me, as I expect to be swimming as much as running. But, I still have not found any clarity regarding these features: is the Suunto Run supposed to give metrics for pool swimming or not ? (just like any Garmin watch would…)
