Customize settings unable to save on Suunto Race S & few other issues.
-
I raised this question before as well, but did not get any answer to it, so I decided to post it as a separate topic under Suunto Race S. (The watch is just new may be a few weeks old).
The watch is running under the latest software update to 2.44.46
I tried to customise the workout in every possible way, but it’s not holding whatever I need, and every time I restart the workout, it goes back to the same default settings.
It is very irritating to go and check every setting again and again. I did hard rest for watching a few times without any luck.
The support agents have no idea what is happening and give random solutions, which lead you nowhere.
Map downloads sucks, even keeping watch even on top of the wifi router, it takes forever and ever to download new maps. And agent advised me to use 5G mobile connection to download maps faster when the Wi-Fi is 100Mbps +. I tried that too, and there is no improvement.
Mainly, I set the battery performance, heart rate (off), and a few other things.
Is there a way to reach out to the support team directly?Even on the website, they dont have any update about new software, it shows details of 2.43.12.
These are basic things anyone wants, and no straight updates or solutions are coming from the support team. I used a few other Suunto watches, such as Ambit 3 Peak, Suunto 5, Ambit 1 and there such personal customisation worked seamlessly with MovesCount and SuuntoConnect.
I am really disappointed with Suunto support, agents are not replying on time, and keep you waiting endlessly.

Most settings are not remembered between activities, some are (e.g. autolaps or S+). Not a bug, just the way it is implemented.

@isazi But why? I’m not convinced by such answers. What is a good reason to implement this way? This feature is still available on older products, even though they don’t have the powerful hardware that new watches have today.
I don’t need many settings for daily activities, but when a customised option is offered, it should stay as I set it until I choose to change it.
When I customise my outdoor activities, I want them to remain the way I configure them, not the way software engineers decide, which forces me to check every time. That isn’t true customisation.
The bigger question is: why aren’t support agents giving a clear answer about this? When I asked, they told me, “You can’t change anything with the built-in outdoor activity; you must create your own workout, customise it, and save it.” Ok, I did that too, and that solution doesn’t work either.
If Suunto is promoting a customised watch, then it should truly allow customisation that stays saved for the next activity until we, the users, decide otherwise. It shouldn’t automatically revert to standard settings, making us check and adjust everything back to our preference each time.
