misleading heart rate data
-
I just used my race S for its first multi-day hike. On most days the (wrist-based) heart rate data appeared to be pretty accurate. However, on two days out of 7 days I feel the data were totally unrealistic - the numbers I got where about 30% higher than what I typically get when walking up a similar slope at the same speed. Data remained odd for several hours. As a result, various other parameters were also affected - for example the “resources” value crashed from 80% to 10% in an hour or so.
What I find interesting: a similar issue has been described in this forum in 2021, for an entirely different Suunto model. Could it be that there is a problem with the algorithm that Suunto uses? Are other users experiencing the same issue?
And: are there any known solutions to avoid this problem? To me it feels like the watch begins with a best guess of my initial heart rate, and if this guess is correct, it will continue to give meaningful results. However, if the initial guess is off, the watch appears to “take a wrong turn” and continues to provide inaccurate data. So it would be good if one could have a fresh start and give the watch a chance to begin again with correct data. Is there any way to achieve that?
