      Hi All!
I have Suunto Ocean and struggling while doing sport. Ascent measurement is awful for running, hiking and mountain skiing (tested all this modes)
Today I did trail running, Suunto measured 235 metres of ascent. In the same time, 2 Garmins of my running buddies showed 800 m of ascent and it is correct number!

Suunto support gave some common advice (find below), but it not so useful and, to be honest, I don’t think that such expensive device should work like that

      Maybe someone have some thoughts?

      My question to Suunto support

Altimeter in my Suunto Ocean works inappropriate - today I did trial running, watches measured assent 235 metres. In a fact it was about 800m

      Answer:
To address the issue with the altimeter in your Suunto Ocean watch, please ensure the following:

Automatic Pause Feature: If the automatic pause feature is enabled, it may cause the watch to frequently pause during low-speed ascents. During these pauses, the ascent data will not be recorded, resulting in a lower total ascent value.

Track Authenticity: Suunto watches prioritize the authenticity of the track during activities, which may lead to differences in distance calculations compared to other products or apps. This is especially true in complex terrains where Suunto avoids excessive smoothing to ensure the track data accurately reflects the actual path.

Water Interference: If your activity involved crossing water, the GPS track calculation might be affected, as the watch does not apply special processing like in swimming mode. Additionally, water can block the pressure sensor, affecting altitude, pressure, and ascent data.

Pressure Sensor Maintenance: Ensure the pressure sensor is clean and unobstructed before starting outdoor activities. Synchronize data with your phone, and perform GPS signal search and positioning in an open area with good signal. Wait for the GPS icon to turn green for 1 to 3 minutes before starting your activity. During the activity, avoid blocking the pressure sensor with rain, dirt, or other substances.
