- can I still sync to Movescount web once I have used the SA to configure the watch (I planned a route using SA)?
There are 2 SA features that broke MC sync (suuntolink or MC mobile app):
- Sports mode customization
- Route planning
If you use any of them, you will need to factory reset watch to connect again with MC

… All of my power data from Stryd transfers perfectly as well as all other data. Congratulations on working on this for however long it has taken. …
I am wondering, is this just for power and cadence or also for the advanced metrics like LSS? This would be my reason to switch, because with MC this is not possible.

No, just power and cadence! Upvoted your metrics suggestion.

@Matt_from_Suunto Well, my felling about Suunto App is good, every implemented feature is working fine. The connectivity between the watch and the phone is also good, rarely is necessary to use the function to forge the Bluetooth device to connect again, which for me its totally acceptable.
Therefore, I believe you guys has a lot of job to do about the features, for instances the route planning needs to be improved, we should have a field to search source and destination, exporting gpx files.
When I talk about route planning it means safety and that’s why I believe it’s very important, sometimes I’m in the middle of nothing just following a trail and it has to be reliable.
Talking about safety, there is a feature in Garmin which my colleagues always talk about which calls the safety contact if you have some kind of abrupt interruption in the trail, so if you riding a trail and drops during you riding and get unconscious, the devices calls you safety contact, it’s very nice.
Besides that, when I installed the app I choose Portuguese (Brazilian Portuguese) but I wanted to change for english and it’s not possible to change the language, I believe you should be able to change it.
Also, remember to look at the market, we have a lot of watches with very good solution about “smart watch”, I know its not the focus but it’s the cake cherry and should be implemented some feature like weather forecast, being able to answer yes or no in a message, well, the basic smart watch features.
Well, you guys are doing well and you have a very big challenge to bring all suggestion to home and persuade the “rough” development guys to implement every single suggestion all the customers judge important and also keep competitive in the market.Good luck!!!

The app is by far better than the Movescount one. But it’s q huge mistake not to integrate with the site that give a lot of data. More than the new app.
If Suunto let the Movescount website offline all user will lost a lot of data of our new activities. It’s strange when Garmin or polar are working hard on giving more data to their users Suunto its doing the opposite.

I have reconsidered my opinion, too, and have to admit, that SA, although still rather flawed in quite a number of details and not offering real value referring to the possibility to really analyze activities (neither automatically - e.g. even the comparison of similar routes is a disaster IMO, nor manually), has replaced the Movescount App on my smartphone, especially since the Relive-App is offering the great movies.
BUT - I still NEED the Movescount website in order to see a number of data that is valuable for me (RR, VO2, EPOC, comparison of activities)… on a decent display and automatically transfer data to Sporttracks.mobi.
So in a way, SA is my convenient “fast track” to sync / see details about my activities in the fastest way possible. But in order to really see - or even analyze - it is more or less not useful, and I need the way via Movescount - although there is Runalyze now, too.Talking about Runalyze / Movescount / SportTracks (mobi & PC-program)… I still have serious doubts, that I will be able to “live” without the access to / advantages of a big display - and have some doubts, too, that I would like to accept a solution/company, that does not offer own solution(s) for a deeper and flexible analysis, which seems impossible without the decent screen-size…and additionally it somehow - again only my opinion - shows quite some lack of confidence - and in the longer run a significant reduction of credibility - in own capabilities and even abilities (e.g. to deliver a contestant on eye level with others) when it is required to ask to use other (“non-partner”)solutions without advantages.

In short: Crap
In long: the app misses the most fundamental functionalities movescout currently is offering. I am not talking about this social stuff where I can show others how much I move my butt, but the features to access the core features of the watch I have bought: changing the displays, uploading programs to the watch, modifying other configuration settings or uploading GPX tracks/POIs and modify settings of the watch.
I don’t give the slightest f* about broadcasting my “moves” on the web, but I want access to the features which resulted in buying my watch.
Last but not least the app is missing an exit button. I don’t plan to have another useless app running in the background eating up battery lifetime while I am offline somewehere in the alps, without network and not the slightest need to show the world where I am at the moment, how many steps it took me to get there and how I managed to keep my heart beat rate within limits. Currently I have to deny the app to run in the background, to auto launch and whenever I click on it by accident Iit must be killed via task manager. That’s a no go.
If these features are not implemented when movescout goes offline, it will be my last watch from Suunto (I currently have three - Observer, Terra and Ambit3) and I will start actively advertising Garmin products, especially on the platforms I am active (including a small web based bulletin board focused on Outdoor and equipment with around 35k users) to save others from buying a product where the focus of applications around the watch is social media, “influencers” and other wannabe important people while leaving the ones outside in the rain who want to work with the product and want to configure it in a way it fits best for their needs.
Thx.

@Alexander-Beck Hi, just to get it right
changing the displays --> settings in watch
uploading programs to the watch --> not implemented (I hardly/never used it in my Ambit)
modifying other configuration settings --> settings in watch
uploading GPX tracks/POIs --> settings in app
modify settings of the watch --> settings in watchSo the only missing thing is the customization via programs.
I can just compare Suunto (Ambit 1, 3, Suunto 9) and Garmin (Fenix 5x) and both apps and webapps are not usable for in depth training reviews. There are only 2 possibilities: WKO4 or Golden Cheetah. Anything else is just nice playing around. And here is the point: You cannot export a training as a fit file natively from the app. Maybe via sportstracker webapp (did not test it) or RunGap on iOS. So you must rely on the sync to TrainingPeaks and then another sync to WKO4 or get your fit-file into Golden Cheetah. This is definitly an advantage of the Fenix 5x: Connect it to WKO4 with a cable and you can import your trainings directly.
But in comparison, both companies do not offer a serious training possibility (even Movescount didn’t). I am happy to sync to TrainingPeaks and WKO4 and can do whatever I want to for reviewing my trainings…
Just my 50 cent… -

We ask that you keep your posts civil. While the points you made above are fine, the paragraph above is unacceptable. The vast majority of users here are trying to make the app a better program. I am asking that you keep your posts civil and if possible constructive. I think the point about running in the background is valid and perhaps something should be implemented. I have an iPhone and I am often out of service range ski mountaineering in the + 4000m peaks in Colorado where I do not need my app running in the background and communicating with the phone.
I have no connection to Suunto but a volunteer here. I am asking once more that you keep your posts civil or I will moderate. Thanks.

For what I understand from your post, your Suunto watch is the Ambit 3, which, if I am not mistaken, only supported for the Suunto App in Beta mode. So why all the complaining? If you enrolled in the beta program you know what you can find, as in all beta programs from all the companies, in fact if you are in a beta program is to give feedback in order to improve. Anyway, you can still use Movescount as always and forget about SA.
You have some valid points (as the exit button) but you can propose it as a request with not need for this aggressive post.

I use it a lot (for Ambit 3).

You are mistaken (at least what relates to iOS app), basic support of Ambit 3 is since v. 1.5.0 (released cca 01/2019). The truth is that it is just “basic support”. But since 01/2019 I do not see any progress in further support of Ambit 3, so I can understand, that some customers are getting frustrated. I am still waiting patiently - I use Movescount (web) and SA (mobile - in beta mode) simultaneosly, so I do not feel limited at this moment. However I would like to see more progress in Ambit 3 implememtation…
OT: I was decided to switch to Polar (I like Polar Flow), however I found out, that Polar makes new Vantage in China, and I want to support companies which produces goods in Europe. So I am still supporting Suunto. I hope they will hard during next months so their app is fully usable even for Ambit 3.

@Matt_from_Suunto hi I recorded an activity directly with the app, just for sake of trying. I noticed few things perhaps known bugs. 1) the activity was not synced to neither runalyze nor training peaks nor strava. 2) the activity time was not propagated to the watch. Given the fact that any analysis cannot be done in the app, moving the activity to 3rd party has higher priority for me. Is there a way to push the sync manually? Thanks
-
@Antonio-Crapsi Hi! Did you have the partner services Runalyze etc connected before the activity was done?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yes. When i use the watch everything was pushed automagically. I thought that maybe the app works differently.
-
@Antonio-Crapsi I just tried with mine and it works. Android and version 3.64.507
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos same os and app version. But i did not upgrade the firmware of my spartan trainer whr.
I also just tried two fake activities ( run and hike) and they both got synced everywhere. So only my real one stayed only in app. Maybe cause i did not have wifi this afternoon? -
@Antonio-Crapsi hmm. Could you try now a fake one? With the app…
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yes i tried 2 and they both worked. No clue about this afternoon hike
-
@Antonio-Crapsi lets keep an eye on this. Feel free to open a thread as a bug in our issues section if it happens. In the meanwhile I can provide a fit file for you for that activity if you like, that you will need to manually upload though.
