Firmware missing function-HR alerts/map data/custom batery modes
-
The Race S is a great piece of hardware, but unfortunately it really suffers on the software side.
I’m missing heart rate zone change alerts – a totally basic feature for any sports watch!
During navigation, having the map show how many kilometers I still have to go is pretty much useless. It would be much better if I could turn that off or, ideally, replace it with something more useful like heart rate, speed, or pace.
One thing that really surprised me: my old Ambit 2S allowed me to create custom battery profiles, but the Race S only offers predefined ones. Can someone explain why that is?
I really hope some of this gets addressed in a future firmware update.
I’ve only been using the watch for a week and already found quite a few things that annoy me.
The shortcomings mentioned above bother me the most, because otherwise, this is a really great watch. -
@Android-Lolipop You can set heart rate or pace zone targets in the activity. I do not believe you can set them to be for all zones. There is a Suunto+ app that details time in zones but I do not believe it alerts.

@Android-Lolipop HR zone alerts are available and working. I own Race not S but don’t think there is any difference. Just go to exercise options set target Zone and you’ll get notified when out of it.

@EzioAuditore You’re right… Thanks for the tip!

@Android-Lolipop I am owner of Race S and I use HR target zone often. As @EzioAuditore mentioned set target HR zone. There are two types of notifications:
-
vibration when you enter or leave target zone
-
vibration and message on display (Speed up or Slow down) when your HR is out of target zone for long time. See documentation.

AFAIK it is not possible to display HR on map but you can create custom sport mode with multiple screens. These screens are customizable, you can add heart rate, average HR, pace, speed, average speed and a lot of other metrics. Yes, you will need to switch between map and screens but it is just one button click.
