Suunto Race S altitude issues during activity
-
Hi,
During activities I have randomly encounter issue where altitude has crazy spikes/drops causing the whole activity to get wrong readings eg. total distance and ascents/descents are way off.
GPS trail looks ok, it draws the route correctly on the map.
In an activity where the normal readings should be maybe ~300m or so.I have done soft reset, regular sync with app, calibration, auto adjustment of altitude and waited for GPS before activity. I still randomly encounter this.
Anyone else having same issue? Thanks!

@AnttiM was it a windy day?

@AnttiM Looks as if the baro hole is blocked or your skin is covering the sensor holes that are on the opposite side of the crown. You can check them and make sure that nothing is pushing up against the sensor holes.

@Brad_Olwin Activities have been MTB on a winter trail so yes skin, clothing etc. can be clogging the holes. Need to adjust the positioning of the watch on my wrist. I’ll keep an eye on this.
Thanks!

@spardic I cant recall, but at my case i dont think wind has affected since the clock mainly is under jacket.
Today again 2km added distance and a section where altitude jumps around.
This happened in a section/trail with quite intense movement so my guess is wrist is blocking the baro sensor holes causing “heavy” pressure changes as @Brad_Olwin statedI guess there is no way to disable baro functionality during activity?
