Software Update 2.39.44 (2024 Q4 Hotfix + new pool swim algo)

@Tieutieu Yes, I have the same problem and a post described above
I have not yet been able to recognize a system which modes disappear

@pavel-samokha
Yesterday I tried to do quite a lot of Medley swimming.I saw people were complaining by the accuracy of watch counting in medley swimming.
For me it was ok on my Race S:
As you can see, main set 8×400m medley swimming - distances were counted correctly, times a bit off, but that is fine and usual.
The only thing is style detection. It was bad and it is still bad, but differently. The watch detected my butterfly and backstroke as freestyle. Breaststroke and free is correct:
-
@Jer075 I had the same on my previous training session, when we had a lot of drills and for the watch it looked like I was mostly standing than swimming.
-
These days I swam in the pool (25m) and now I am sure the watch has extreme difficulty recognizing the backstroke .
I swam alternating a freestyle lap (25m) and the return to backstroke (25m), for 12 times (total 600m). The watch has been able to track the freestyle, but when I changed to backstroke it does not recognizing it and therefore loses 25m of swimming, recording a total of about 475m!When I swim freestyle or backstroke, it sometimes records the breaststroke.
With the previous version of the firmware, the watch had difficulty recognizing the breaststroke, while it recognized the backstroke more easily (and above all, it did not lose 25m of swimming!).
I really hope that Suunto fixes the swimming tracking, today I certainly cannot suggest to buy this watch for the swimming.
After swimming a lap (25m), is there a way (by pressing a button?) to manual record a lap?
Thanks.Devis

Update on swim distance accuracy:
I found that the stroke (breast) was recognised correctly after the update, but the distance accuracy was terrible.
I’ve now downgraded to 2.39.20 and accuracy is now spot on again. The stroke is recognised as Free, but I’ll take the distance accuracy. So 2.39.44 does appear to be a regression, at least for me swimming breast-stroke in 20m and 25m length pools.
Waiting now to see if there’s a fix in a future firmware update. Until then I’ll stick with 2.39.20.

Today I again I tried the watch in medley swimming and observed very strange bug
Here I swam 10×100m medley swimming. Interval 30s, actual average time per 100m is ~1’24, which was counted manually:
With red color I marked where I actually swam each 100m IM. Pay attention to the time of 2nd 100m IM - 869 hours is too much
Additionally in the training program I had 4×300m hands (with pullbuoy), where each 300m is one stroke:
So distances and times counted more or less correctly here. But stroke detection for butterfly and backstroke again off.

@Александр-Даниленко same thing for me, I created a dedicated topic here: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/12593/pool-swim-interval-duration-totally-wrong?_=1740382165146

@Arju-Ambin Where can I find the FAQ on the topic of updates?
It is said that the cycle of battery discharge should be made. Does it matter if the battery is drained from 100% or 30%? Then it would be easier to do the update with a low battery level
The only reference I have is from this thread, the first question asked there: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/9960/more-faq?_=1734438665530
Haven’t searched further in case there is any.
I tried again, as it says in the FAQ and tested it until today. Unfortunately without success. I still lose 2-4% a day without gps but with sleep monitoring. Sport with gps I have 10-20% more consumption. Will use the old version until the next update

My sleep tracking has failed for the first time since the last update. The HR sensor is active, but no data has been recorded tonight.
-
@Jordi-C same happened to me today. HR measured, but no sleep tracking and resources chart empty.
-
On my side, HR tracking ok but for the second time the HR fail few seconds after starting the activity. Then no measure whereas the green light is still operational. Soft reset required to solve the issue, without the issue remains for next activity.
Very annoying… -
@dulko79 exactly the same behaviour as me.

@pavel-samokha
Any news when the update will arrive to the 9pp? -
@Felix-Felicis hearing about last fix not fixing HR problems or introducing them to people who previously didn’t experience it - I’m not sure that I want the fix

Improvements and bug fixes:- Pool swim distance accuracy improved
- Daily HR and sleep tracking problems fixed
- Stability improvements and bug fixes
- One WiFi connection problem fixed
Not yet for Suunto 9 Peak Pro, still being tested
I found one more problem with a new firmware.
If I create structured workout, the watch doesn’t count how much distance left and therefore cannot show me next steps, if it is distance based workout.
For example, if according to training program I have to swim 100m and I do that, at the end the watch still show me, that 100m left.
To demonstrate this I recorded this short video:
https://youtube.com/shorts/El_WJFhMOmY?si=Kk6KUz9FO3GZI5bOHere just as example I created workout with 100m distance. I “swam” 25m (imitation). The watch should show me that 75m left, but they still show me that 100m left.
During actual swimming training today I had the same problem.
On previous firmwares it worked correctly.

Today sleep tracking failed. Was the first time since this update. Don’t know if it is the same bug or a different one.
-
My sleep tracking has failed for the second time in a 3 days period.
-
@Jordi-C my race s tracked sleep just fine after the fail the other day. After the fail I did soft reset. Did you do soft reset?
-
@dulko79 Yes, yesterday I did a soft reset.
This morning my sleep tracking was detected as a nap, followed by a short period of sleep, I have to say that the battery was very low, around 6%, when I woke up, I don’t know if that had anything to do with it.
I charged the watch to 100% and went for a walk, after the first kilometer I realised that my watch was not detecting my HR.
I had to stop the activity and do another soft reset to make everything work properly. The truth is that the last 2 updates are being quite messed up.

The issue with the hr being stoped it is really bad . I have had it twice already .
