Zone Sense , threshold detection not always working
-
Hello, I like Zone Sense very much , but after a workout I do not always see that Thresholds are automatically detected in order to help me set the FC Zones.
I have a Race S and garmin HR chest strap, should I wear the Suunto chest strap to have the thresholds detected all the time? -
@Antonello85 Detection depends on the data. It won’t happen with every exercise.

For ZoneSense algo to measure thresholds, you’ll need to spend time around the intensities that are close to what your thresholds might be.
It’s normal you don’t get them measured on every single run.
Over time you’ll get a good sense where your thresholds are and set zones 3 and 5 accordingly. 5 zone schema is less relevant with ZS, ZoneSense is all about a 3 zone schema.
One other alternative is to a step test, warmup and do from 5 to 7 blocks of 5 mins with 1 min recovery in between each one. Go from easy pace to almost full out for the last one, a running track is preferred, but again this is not needed but it’s a good protocol to follow if you’re not really sure what your training zones are.
