HR disappears on the face and leaves the widget circle empty

I want to be able to see my HR permanently on the face. The widget shows it for a short while (30s or so) and then leaves the circle empty until I push the central button. I was so happy to be rid of the ‘wrist gesture’ of AMOLED screens (to save battery) but now I am in the similar situation: I do not see it until I take action. How can I get my HR on the face permanently?
