Stryd Air Power
-
Does anyone know a way to get Stryds Air Power written to the file without using the Suunto Stryd App? I cannot use that app if I’m executing workouts planned in TrainingPeaks.
-
@Smyles No way. But you can open Stryd app after a workout is sync’ed to Suunto and on to Stryd PowerCenter, go to settings and pick Sync Stryd. The data off the sensor will be merged with your Suunto workout and will include all the Stryd metrics, not just air power.
-
@Brainicus good to know, thanks. That might be the difference between me keeping and returning my Race S.
-
@Brainicus the issue I’ll have with a Stryd offline sync is that all my existing workouts in the Stryd will be duplicated.
-
@Smyles don’t use S+ Stryd app and workouts won’t get duplicated.
Reason they get duplicated is Suunto workout when using S+ Stryd app saves two power streams in fit file, watch own wrist power and Stryd’s. Stryd is not expecting this and it gives you two workouts after offline sync.
I don’t use S+ Stryd app, it creates more issues than advantages, in the end, tracking STRYD metrics is easier on Stryd’s mobile app or website than in Suunto app.
So my suggestion is connect STRYD to Suunto as either power pod or footpod and avoid S+ app. -
@herlas they’re duplicating without the Stryd app. I tried the app because it’s the only way to see Air Power in real-time, but the app can’t be used when executing a TrainingPeaks planned workout.
I’m returning my Race S and going back to Coros.

@Smyles do what you feel doing best with your watch choice. That’s a separate thing.
I’ve already explained why you’d end up with two workouts in stryd, and you’re right, completed workouts will be duplicated after doing Stryd offline drying sync, however new ones won’t.
My setup is:
- Stryd account connected to Suunto account.
- Suunto connected to TrainingPeaks.
- Stryd pod used as a Powermeter on my watch, but NOT through S+app.
do your power-based Trainingpeaks guide on your Suunto, once finished, workout will be in Suunto (no stryd metrics) and in Stryd power center (no stryd metrics yet either).
Next do offline Stryd sync, a second workout will be there temporally in Stryd power center, after a few seconds, this two will get merged by Stryd and only have will remain that has all full metrics.Stryd air power is nice, but not sure how it helps executing a workout by monitoring it live, Stryd real time power already accounts Stryd air power though, however, if this is a deal breaker like it seems to seem to you, go ahead and do what feels appropriate.
I completely understand this, I’d be returning a Pace Pro 3 if I’m used to Suunto ZoneSense feature for example and it wouldn’t be there in Coros

@herlas said in Stryd Air Power:
Stryd account connected to Suunto account.
Suunto connected to TrainingPeaks.Stryd account connected to Suunto account; same
Suunto connected to TrainingPeaks; same
I also have Stryd connected to TrainingPeaks, without that my planned/executed TrainingPeaks workouts don’t show in Stryd.I’m not using the Suunto Stry app. Stryd have removed all duplicates for me.
I’ve ordered a Coros Pace Pro.
