Parallel Use Of Movescount + Suunto app

✓iOS user.➢As inconvenient I’ve experienced watch restarts.
➢Other, when I open the app’s in the wrong order thats f**** up some moves since I could only synchronize it with SA. I have solved by RunGap, but losing some data.
➢Suunto could remove this restriction whenever it does not affect the stability of two ecosystems and device performance. MS is so mature that it would be a shame to discard it. For me it´s very important create, edit and synchronize routes via MC web. For this reason at the moment I can´t use 100% SA. Pity, because I like the SA evolution.☛Last is my strongest argument for several reasons:
- SA has very low map resolution for creation routes on free mode.
- Free mode does not show route ascend / descent.
- There is no altimetry profile.
- There is no WP, POi option.
- There is no route preview.
-
NOTE: SA=Suunto App, ST=SportsTracker, MCa=MovesCount App, MCw=MovesCount Web, SL=SuuntoLink.
First: I’ve got a Samsung Galaxy S8 (Android 9.0). I’ve installed SA, ST and MCa on it. But just sync through MCa which sends data to MCw and then, MCw syncs data to Strava, STw and SA. So I manage routes, custom sport modes and every configuration on MCw. Oh! I forgot that sometimes I sync my watch to STw through SL.
But anyway, I work hard with SA and check every thing I could (of course: no routes, no custom sports and no watch settings): stats, analysis, training maps…
Now, my answers to your questions:
Did you have any crashes? No.
Did you get any confusions about what SportModes come from Movescount and what from the Suuunto App? This doesn’t apply to me, as I don’t sync with SA.
Did you get messed regarding the route sync? Same answer than before.
How would you feel if you could use both apps? For me, this needs a deeply answer:
IMHO, and to be honest, I just need a mobile app to sync and check basic things. I don’t need/want to program anything hard (routes, custom modes, settings…) in a portable device with 5-6 inches of max size. In any way. This means, at the same time, even that I don’t care about that, I doesn’t matter if the apps could do those things. Probably I will use those features just to test them but not seriously.
In my humble point of view, the best (and probably not so hard to do while every server belongs to Amer Sports) would be (if you let me give an idea) something like (try to figure it):
A bidirectional sync between MCw and ST databases (for workouts), so then, it will no matter if you sync your watch with MCa or SA and will maintain things in the right place no matter which app you use to sync. The only blockage Suunto must do is to link the watch to just one of the apps.
Probably it would be possible to sync routes between MCw and ST (this is just useful if SA sync routes with ST, I’m not sure about this).
For custom sport modes and watch settings, I don’t see it’s a need to make a database sync, as it would be easier to sync just between watch and the app the user wanna use.
Please, try to figure this setup. And remember that at this moment, MCa has got just a few features and is almost not usable for analysis, so it’s just for sync, check that workouts are uploaded and stop to count here. So with a situation like this, I would be really happy using just SA, as I don’t lose MCw features and multidevice working, and I will be calm, as I could back to MCa at any moment without loosing data. -

- Did you have any crashes? No, never due to parallel use of both apps
- Did you get any confusions about what SportModes come from Movescount and what from the Suunto app? I decided not to use sport modes from SA to avoid losing the connection with MC app, which I use merely to sync with Strava.
- Did you get messed regarding the route sync? Love the route feature in SA and didn’t get messed up when using it at the same time as MC route feature, but I haven’t used the one in SA recently, so can’t confirm if it would be different now.
- How would you feel if you could use both apps? (Provided that Suunto app has Strava, Training peaks, Endomondo, GPX import, Heatmaps for all and new sharing options)
I would not care about, and would not need, MC if SA had all those features implemented.
P.S. The reason behind this is to be able to perhaps lift this “restriction” as it has costed a lot of trouble, so I really need your feedback ideas and so on.
Thanks a lot and please focus on the subject. No structured intervals posts please

I already use both apps. First sync with Movescount App and then with Suunto App. I enabled sport customization and route planner.Did you have any crashes? Nop, just have to unpair/pair regulary
Did you get any confusions about what SportModes come from Movescount and what from the Suunto app? Nop, but i have used custom sport on SA only for testing purposes till now
Did you get messed regarding the route sync? Nop
How would you feel if you could use both apps? I feel ok with this, because it’s already the case ;). But honestly, it’s annoying to sync with both apps, and i patiently expect the day where we will be able to manage all with only one service whatever the device. (Desktop or mobile) -

No.Did you get any confusions about what SportModes come from Movescount and what from the Suunto app?
I use The Spartan Trainer Whr _ the Sport mode are not customizable in the Android-Version 3.45.1 ?
Did you get messed regarding the route sync?
Yes I want to have All my routes in mc-web.
How would you feel if you could use both apps?
Tha would be fine for me.
I think it would be a great mistake from Suunto if the movescount Website would not be supported in the future.
Remember all great watch companies have Websites and apps for the watches! -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I rather use the more stylish Suunto app, but I really miss the ability to turn on/off certain notifications as you can do in MC app!
And of course sync directly from SA to Strava. A big miss so far… At least there should be a way, in the meantime while we wait for real-time sync to Strava, to get the activities from the watch to Strava when it’s locked to SA. -
Quick from me.
Im using MC and Suunto app. I have S9 and SSS whrB. Due to fact that once you started using Suunto app sport mode cust what disconnects you from MC - SSS is connected to SApp and S9 to MC.
Also Strava import is important for me -> MC.
As I wrote many times the biggest negative of SApp is that till now values are still diff from values in watch what is not acceptable for me.Anyway I didnt notice some issues with pairing or sync on Iphone 8 with latest iOS.
-
I have a Spartan Sport WHR and I use MCa, MCw and SA on iPhone, iPad and laptop. I have also synced all my moves with STa and STw but don’t tend to use those systems.
-
Did you have any crashes?
No. I will only use one app at a time before exiting and using the next - typically I will sync my new moves with SA first then sync with MCa to update my training plans or any new settings. -
Did you get any confusions about what SportModes come from Movescount and what from the Suunto app?
No. I have decided not to customise SportModes in SA until I can edit the basic ones and/or create new ones via the app if required. If I need to edit any SportModes it is still done via MCw for now. -
Did you get messed regarding the route sync?
Yes. I read the warnings and synced a new route in SA as i was out of town and wanted a new route to run and for some reason MCa was not syncing with my watch. I have no issue creating new routes via SA now as i am happy with the app. -

My preference is for one app and at the moment I have gone with SA for my moves. I only use MCa to bring through updated settings without the need for SL such as my training plans, Sportmode updates and so if that is able to be done via SA—>MCw then I would be removing MCa off my devices.

I noticed the last few days that my moves are now syncing between MCa and SA again.
However I have noticed that my planned moves seem to have shifted out a day - today is Tuesday 23 October but the planned move that is showing in Excercise screen is for Monday 22, on the Training Plan screen still shows Monday’s planned move as well as the rest of the weeks.
This has only started happening when the syncing between two apps came back but not sure if related.

i would like to use both with my SSS but i can’t. i can only have 1 app conected… Why is that?

- features separations is clear
- Use SA+Strava integration, but route & sportsMode sync is demanded to movescount.
GPX import and heatmaps (and maybe new layers) will be great but…till I can’t update my movescount account with SuuntoApp, I’ll continue use both
-
Hi,
Is there any procedure to sync watch with SA, and then sync watch with MCmobileapp?
-
Correct me if I’m wrong.
You can do the opposite: first movescount app, then suunto app.
The watch accepts only one app connection at a time, so you can keep it paired with movescount app, allowing it to connect to sport trackers. This will also update the suunto app.I use the other way: watch connected with suunto app and, as I said above, moves, routes and sports mode updates via cable (suuntolink)

@Saketo-Nemo I haven’t found the mode to have watch paired with 2 apps (Android). I don’t want to use simultaneously, just avoid to pair/unpair process

Upssss… doing some testing… I found! start/stop plane mode and it works!

Did anyone try the “parallel” setup on Ambit 3?
Does it work ? -
@sartoric , I do. And it kind of works. Something is going on with notifications, I just notice it when phone beeps and I glance at a watch but nothing appears. Sometimes. I think. Maybe some notifications from some apps are just not pushed to the watch. At the moment I just went through steps bellow and also got a notification while SA is still re-syncing all the Moves from Ambit.
Anyway,
I unpair Ambit from phone’s BT devices;
switch off phone’s BT;
start pairing from watch (pair mobile app -> already paired -> replace);
open Movescount, add watch and allow it to enable Bluetooth, pair with PIN and let it sync;
close Movescount task (just closing it from task list seems to be enough);
open SA, it wants to pair with a watch, accept (there’s no pin entry this time)
and it starts syncing all logbook entries.if I want to sync with Movescount, I make sure I close SA from tasks, turn off Bluetooth, open Movescount and let it enable Bluetooth. Usually watch automagically syncs with SA, but I’m not 100% sure if it happens only when Movescount task is closed or put on hold by some Android bat. & resource management thingy.
Android 8 on Galaxy S9 and Suunto app beta.

@margusl
Now it seems to work. My friend didn’t remove SA and unpair before trying the parallel use … despite my reccomandationsDo you have issues in transferring custom routes ?
He can’t see the toggle -
