Invert crown scrolling direction
-
I just got my Race S and was reading Does anyone actually use the scroll on the crown?
Is it just me or are there others that find the scroll unintuitive? It always goes in the direction opposite of what I expect to happen, up instead of down.
I wish there was a setting to invert it, like you have on trackpads for instance.

Yup, wrong direction. There are some of us who always have to change the up/down linking of the joystick in video games (for head/sight movement). Our brains are simply wired differently from how the default is set.

@Rijk Absolutly, I thought I’m the only one. Have a Race S since 4 month and still I turn it in the wrong direction 🫤

Would love to see scroll direction option. Coros does this as part of initial set up.

Please! I’m on the same boat… Always scroll in the wrong direction when I wake the watch up! It shouldn’t be a big deal to add this as a software setting?

For me, the scrolling is as I expect it to be: if I scroll up the screen goed up, if I scroll down the screen goes down. The same way as swiping on my phone and iPad works.

No doubt, but the OP just expressed a wish for configuration when the scrolling of the crown behaves unexpectedly.
E.g. if your brain sees the crown as moving the watch over a backdrop of information, then an ‘upwards’ twist (clockwise) should reach the above-situated info. Whereas if you see it as moving the backdrop behind a stationary watch, the opposite is true.
All this (our preferences) is very complicated and there is no real understanding of the exact mechanisms behind it. A good article about the topic, almost five years old now, can be read in the Games section of The Guardian:
“When up means down: why do so many video game players invert their controls?”

@Inge-Nallsson maybe I had to be more clear. All I want to make clear is that there are multiple preferences and so for only the ‘opposite as it is now’ had a voice. If Suunto does something about it, I just hope they add a configuration and not just reverse the current behavior.
