Software Update 2.39.20 – design simplicity: please provide option to keep old watch menu
-
@jrun1200 I am also surprised that the menu is not the same as on my original Ambit 3 Peak after the upgrade. They should leave it as it was before. Please Suunto bring back the Ambit 3 menu back!
-
I’m with @Tieutieu, looks absolutely great on my Race !!
Maybe not as well suited to the smaller screen of the S or MIP of the Vertical perhaps ?!
-
@jrun1200 yes its someway a llitle bit “dizzy” when scrolling not so clear such amoled screens like race series
-
Dropping my thoughts here too. I actually like the new animation change in the menu on my (regular) Race. As mentioned above, maybe not as well executed on the Race S and Vertical…
-
@Arju-Ambin Not sure about Race as I don’t have it, but I really like it on my Vertical.
-
@sorinus I’m sure it’s a matter of preference. Many who likes it will probably not come forth as they are happy about it. I like it too
-
I like it more now than before and I also think that despite the animation it is even faster than before. SV here.
-
For my old eyes the new menu is better IMO. SV Ti here and I am loving the new update.
-
@Egika this is entirely true. It’s mostly a matter of adapting… To another change
-
@jrun1200 I too prefer the previous, simpler and more recognizable design.
But I imagine that Suunto thought that some users might perceive the simplicity as old-fashioned and preferred to give it a little something.
-
@enriqueescoms I think that it falls into the general polishing of the UI.
-
I also like the new scroll with a that small amount of zoom of the central item, the effect is well balanced and give a nice sense of dynamism, however not a huge change from the previous design imho.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel And/or a return to skeuomorphism (your interesting crown->cylinder point) vs flat design.
-
@Fenr1r good point about skeumorphism. I thought that we’re past that point, but well - maybe not
-
Hi all, after Software update lose continuous heart rate measurement. I will lose my patience too. For me it is the most important funktion…that’s why I bought this watch. Suunto 9 peak pro. I have already done a factory reset which helped before. But now it just stops after a while. I read about, that many people have the same problem…why play the Company with the costumers? I paid 400 euros for it, hoping it was a quality product.
-
FWIW I have an SV, I do like the look of the update but don’t like the smaller fonts. I can imagine in another few years when I’m in my 50’s and my eyes aren’t what they used to be it might be somewhat hard to read. I bought the SV because it was the largest watch available (I upgraded from my trusty old S9B); I’d rather have text that utilises more of the screen space and therefore easier to read
-
@enriqueescoms Maybe Suunto wanted to add this little something as you write, I don’t know… I can only talk for myself, that I decided for this watch because of SUUNTO’s avoidance of gimmicky looks.
Sure, I understand that a lot of people like this feature, and maybe on the bigger watches it really is an improvement. But I think it would be very convenient if there was a hidden option in the menu to turn it off. I think on a small screen like on Race S with no high refresh rate, it’s already enough if items need to scroll in one axis and stay the same size – and not scroll in a curve + keep resizing in a slightly jumpy way.
So please SUUNTO, add an option to keep us old-fashioned minimalists satisfied!
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška haha, yes if there was a watch that had the looks of Ambit 3 peak and the sensors of one of the current models, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it!
-
@jrun1200 I believe that nostalgia would bring back much more people I am happy with the Vertical though. Only a few details missing to be a perfect watch (like a support for more bluetooth devices). But it is pretty close to perfection for my use case
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška I honestly wonder when will such devices start popping up and being trendy again - with the old looks and feels.
