I just bought two (one for my wife and one for me) and even after the December update, the steps do not measure well. You have to move very markedly the arms to detect steps … even in walking mode, in 3km I counted 900 steps and should be at least three times… We are looking forward to an update to fix it because the watch is amazing and it is perfect to be able to do activities and monitor our daily life with our dive watch.

@Alvaro I have the same observation. Step count is very disappointing. I compared side by side an old Garmin Vivomove 2 and the Suunto Ocean. I was missing 2439 steps on the Suunto out of 14005 on the Garmin, after a hike in the forest. The Garmin count has proved quite reliable in the past 6 years.

Sw update in next few weeks?
Hopefully we will get some major updates.
            Here are main three wanta

            1. Fix to watch faces (reintoduce diving face, reintroduce active faces.)
            2. Auto-Detect Exercise mode (optional for those who want to use it as an everyday watch)
            3. Show full Notification text (not enough info shown today, so always have to go and open phone anyway, rendering the function pointless.)

Everything valid above. But SUUNTO - PLEASE FIX HR SENSOR!!! I’ resting and reading, and HR shows 120 while apple watch shows 55? I have to restart my Ocean 2x a day to get readings back to normal. After restart, works like charm. This is not skin type, strap tightness or any other issue, but software issue. I get it - marginal error is OK - but resting state 120 is a bit off. It affects all the measurements all round.

@Peeter-Termomeeter It’s not only Ocean, I also had this with Vertical and Race. This morning I was sitting and my HR was 115. You don’t have to reboot the watch, it will come down after a few seconds. Or just remove it from your wrist for a few seconds.

@timecode Uh… This is so crazy. For me it does not come down - literally - tried taking on off etc. Just… constant 120/130 when it goes nuts. 😄

Hello everybody… is someone else unhappy with the ocean at the moment? At the beginning is was happy and hyped but my euphoria is absolutely gone.

Suunto should bring the next high quality update rly fast to take back control.

like activity Sync problems with the App, gone activitys in the logbook Widget (so its not a logbook just a temporary Memory), no flight Timer issue, the fact you cant delet Single dives in the dive statisic Widget… problems which destoy a nice product in my eyes.

Its my opinion, maybe I had „bad luck“ with my ocean…

I have had the Suunto Ocean since the beginning.Bought it for the Buhlmann. Wasn’t always happy with it but thanks to the up-dates it gradually got better. Now the last update is a step back. Why only use preset gradient-factors. Go back to RBGM then. The whole point of gradient factors is to customize is. Now you are forcing me to use settings that are suboptimal. Pls get the feature back where you can fully customize the gradient factors again. Especially with technically dives where you use multiple computers it is important you have the right settings, and fully customised. The pre-defined settings are a step back and forces me to use my old computers again.

can you please roll back the uodate about the pre defined gradient factors. The whole idea about gradient factors is to be able to customize it. Now you’re forcing people pre-defined gradient factors upon people which are rbgm style. If you want to appeal to the tec community too make sure there is a free choice in adjusting as needed. I bought it for the Buhlmann algorithm but with this change I’m stuck with an inflexible dive computer and I’m using my old computers again since they are allowing me to adjust as needed. Bad call on this update.

@Sharkhugger two option 1) you guys were really fast and fixed it for me… 2) I just messed up, didn’t look good enough and it was always just there so I posted this for nothing.

There is a custom option and I just used it. Loved it, great feature, please do not change that.

Compass after last update works perfect.

got no complaints at this moment love using it.
Maybe look into the trimix thing but, for now great job!

Very disappointed that we have had no update for 5 months… I am very loyal, but my trust in Suunto is starting to go. The excuse that due to the safety testing of the dive software part of the os, updates will be less frequent, doesn’t stand scrutiny (testing can be simulated, automated and segregated, I know i large software development programs … And I bet there are plenty of community volunteers willing to be beta testers).
History tells us that the watch will only be supported with updates for a handful of years, before sunnto desert it… . So how many updates is that anyway. New capabilities and enhancements for every other watch models, ocean supports all the same capabilities and sports, as well as diving. It’s why I bought it. But no updates for those apps, very disappointing …
I have no faith. I feel deserted.
Change my opinion Suunto, win me back, and quick!?

                                  @Jamdog2477 I don’t get the disappointment.
                                  It is FOMO?
Ocean is getting exactly the same features that are introduced for the adventure watches. Just a little later.
Plus more (as dive related features are updated as well).
The model is not left along the way, it is just lagging a bit.

In the meantime, there are S+ apps coming in at the same pace as for all other models.

t6, S6, Elementum Terra, Ambit 3 Sapphire, Spartan Ultra Copper, Traverse Alpha, S7 Graphite LE, S9B Ambassador, S9P Granite Blue Titanium, S9PP Titanium Sand, Vertical All Black, Race Titanium Charcoal,
Race S All Black - TI Canary - Titanium Courtney

I think that Suunto was very clear from the beginning that Suunto Ocean will receive all updates but later than the other watches because the Suunto Ocean is a dive computer and needs extra time and test compared with the other watches.

I’ve to admit that being a bit nerdy I’m always impatient to look for new updates,
nevertheless I believe that I would be way better to follow the Ocean update policy also for all the other watches, that would reduce bugs and users complains…

@Stefano-M64 I do not know exactly which are the protocols and regulations that a dive device should fulfil but I can imagine that are more strict than the ones of the sport watches (this means that are more costy too), we are talking about devices your life depends on.

Regarding the software, I can imagine that is the same than in the sport watches + dive functions, same platform than SV and SR, and I also believe that if Suunto could, they would release the update at the same time than the other watches.
