Pre-dive screen doesn't lock to touch when in contact with water
-
I’m having a problem using the Suunto Ocean for diving.
As part of my pre-dive checks I’ll enter Scuba diving activity mode and leave the watch on the pre-dive screen whilst it connects to my tank pod, syncs GPS etc.
When I get into the water with the watch still on the pre-dive screen, but before beginning the dive, the watch seems to register swipes on the screen from the water splashing on it at the surface. When I look down the watch has often moved into the menu options visible under the pre-dive screen, and sometimes exited the Scuba activity mode entirely.
Often I don’t notice this until my buddies have signaled being ready to descend, and I’m then not ready, as I need to get back to the pre-dive screen, wait for the watch to connect to the tank pod / sync GPS again.
The pre-dive screen should have an automatic touch screen lock so it’s not impacted by water splashing on it.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any fix?

@garethm I have experienced the same with triathlons where you warm up in the water before actually starting the race.
Have reported it to Suunto long time ago…My.current workaround: start activity and pause it right away. Then for the real start, just un-pause.

@Egika thanks for the suggestion. However scuba activity mode has no pause function like other activities.
How did you report functionality problems / suggestions to Suunto? I have found their social media channels to not be a helpful way to contact them.

@garethm I am a field tester for Suunto and have access to their bug reporting system.

Any suggestions how a regular user can report issues? Is anyone from Suunto monitoring this forum?

@garethm there are a couple of other field testers who monitor this forum and transport issues and ideas to Suunto.
Other than this the Suunto App recently gained a feedback function for everyone to use.
