Race S - power zones
-
I have problem with proper adjusting zones for running. I adjusted heart rate zones properly according to LT test.
SuuntoPlus Anaerobic threshold worked properly and after test run I received LT heart rate = end zone 4.
Rest was calculation of LT%. Piece of cake. But app checks not HR but power and my today’s run is marked as anaerobic TSS §. Problem is that I dont see anywhere possibillity to find my power zones.
So, I am not able to adjust power zones corectly and app takes wrong power zones according to that indicates kind of activity as anaerobic.Race S measures running power because it is possible to see this on graph. But how to determine power zones?
Garmin does it itselves without user. How is it in Suunto?Without this workout results are not correct interpreted by app.
Ps. I took values from Garmin but running power measured by Garmin is much more higher then by Suunto. I can’t use them here.

You set them in Control Panel -> Settings -> Training -> Intensity Zones -> Advanced Zones -> Running -> Power Zones.
Garmin and Polar use a different calculation for power which seems to be around about (but not exactly) double the power calculation Suunto, Stryd and Coros use. Stryd and Suunto power values are pretty much identical from my experience.

@far-blue Thanks for reply. I know where the menu for power zones is located. What I do not know is what values I should put there. I have entered there and then I have to adjust all values. But how to calculate them or where I can find zones made by application or watch? It seems everything should be done by user. Watch does measure power I can see after workout but how to define each of zone? I tried to do it from graph - but it is not correct. There is no proper app as well. This is my present topic.

@Mirek_R if you don’t mind to connect to another service, you could give intervals.icu a try. As far as I know it can automatically estimate your FTP from sessions that contain power data. In it’s settings you can select different styles of zones that you can then transfer to your watch.
I myself find this quite useful and use it for my rowing erg and commuting by bike.

An automatic calculation would be great, its not easy to keep HR, Pace and Power Zones consistent.
Meanwhile I always check the calculated TSS based on the three metrics and keep changing the zones until the TSS values are close together.
But that is really something the app could do much better -
@Mirek_R Sorry for misunderstanding Suunto’s approach to all zones has generally to allow you to set them but not really give you much guidance. As with HR there are various calculators for power zones but I think different people like to set their zones up differently so there’s no one agreed approach. As I use a Stryd pod I generally use the zones they suggest but with minor tweaks. A friend who trains based on power tends to go by feel with zone 2 matching easy runs, the top of zone 3 matching 10k race power and the bottom of zone 5 a little below 800m interval power.

@far-blue No problem. I made research and found interesting solution
All is here:
https://youtu.be/a_LR1oula_0?si=WlHVB7TmKjmmyJZmI found proper link to calculators described in movie (web page has changed):
https://www.8020endurance.com/80-20-zone-calculator/
Today after running test with 3 and 9 minutes intervals I had all data and adjusted all. Should be OK.
