Deco Stop / safety stop settings

Why are the options for the final deco stop (safwty stopf) limited to chose between 3 and 6 meters? At every base I have been diving the safety stop is 3mins at 5 meters.
There really should be a possibility to adjust this. When you are getting more shallow at the end of your dive closing in to the 3mins at 5m point, it happens permanently that you pass the 6m mark the deco timer starts, on my last dive all in all 12 times!
So when everybody is finally doing their safety stop at 5m my timer as long run out and I either have to use the dive time indicator or rely my buddies computer. This is really annoyoing. -
@benedikt76, they follow the decompression stops in fixed steps such as 15 m, 12 m, 9 m, 6 m and 3 m, based on Haldane’s 1908 tables.
However, I don’t see any issue on customize this option.

@benedikt76 We call it a 3 minute at 5m safety stop but all the dive computers I know operate a ceiling of 3m and a floor of 6m. I think that’s a good thing, particularly when there a number of divers hanging on a shot line in a swell in poor viz. I find that useful. You find it annoying.

@benedikt76 I couldn’t agree more with you. If all (or better most of all) agreed on 3 minutes at 5 mtrs, why isn’t it possible to adjust this in my Eon!? This has got nothing to do with Haldane’s tables. When I first started diving (1976) the ascent and descent speed was 18 mtrs/min. Nowadays it’s 9/10 mtrs. So if thais van change overtime in a divingcomputer, why can I not change my safety stop parameters into 3 minutes at 5 mtrs? It makes perfectly good sence.
