Manual Sync : SV and Stryd
-
Hi,
i did my first treadmill run with the Stryd duo and a Suunto Vertical, the Suunto plus app on ( Auto sync is off on footpad ). When finished i saved and synced the data on the suunto app, it saved in app and in Stryd app. Then i did a manual sync - i now have two runs in powercenter with different data - i had assumed the data would be merged and the duplicates combined.
-
@murphyp228 shouldn’t the duplication take place at powercenter? How can Suunto prevent you from sending “the same” data twice?
-
@twekkel I thought it would - I have reached out to Stryd as well - just wanted to check if anyone else had experienced this .
-
@twekkel I think I understand it now , you aren’t supposed to do a manual sync is Stryd when using the s+ app, if you do you get a s+ run and a Stryd data run - duplicates with differing data - hr for example.
If you don’t have s+ app enable , when you merge in Stryd you end up with a single merge run in Stryd.
-
@murphyp228 weird: Stryd confirmed that when you use the S+ app, the pod doesn’t cache, so you shouldn’t be able to duplicate the run you just recorded.
Do you normally manually sync your pod after each run?
-
@Ze-Stuart this was my first run and reading the guideance I thought you get the max data from suunto and stryd pod you always had to manually synd to merge the data.
-
@Ze-Stuart @murphyp228 unmerged runs are expected in STRYD platform if you used S+ Stryd and also offline sync the Stryd after.
Stryd commented they don’t have the support to merge runs as they do when using Stryd the tradicional way (food pod/power pod).
Check my initial feedback on the S+
Stryd app here :https://forum.suunto.com/post/139268
The last time i checked, there were more limitations than advantages of using the S+ Stryd app on the treadmil, e.g. You only get power on Stryd S+ app screen, the other watch fields are empty as you’re inside and there’s no GPS? Need to check if this remains the case.
Also no distance, pace, cadence will come from STRYD on the treadmill when using S+ Stryd app, it’s that badAlso whenever you used the S+ app, Suunto fit file gets messy with two power sources.
-
@herlas thank you - for now I won’t use the s+ app - and just enable toe foot pod as normal, manual sync after and all the data is merged into a single run - I assume I can still add a screen in sports mode to represent some power data
-
@murphyp228 absolutely.
To me is simple, Stryd gives you more data and it’s more useful when used as foot pod (distance, pace, cadence and power), from there next option is only power (power meter only).
STRYD S+ app gives 4 STRYD metrics on the fly on watch screen but that’s pretty much it, it creates more problems then the ones it solves unfortunately. -
