Suunto Race S after 1 month - battery life, step measurements, sleep tracking, syncing problems
-
I’ve had my Suunto Race S for a month now and while I love some things, and everything seemed to worked fine to begin with, now lots of annoying things are piling up:
- firstly I notice that sometimes the watch gets stuck with the screen on while it’s waiting for a software update to be applied - is that normal? This might be causing massive battery drain (see below)
- weather and activities don’t appear to be syncing automatically now (they were to start). I have to open the app and sync manually.
- sleep tracking has stopped working - despite it being on and I’ve toggled it on and off.
- step measurements (for example when driving for a whole day) seem off i.e. high when I’ve done nothing.
- battery life is generally good but was surprised a couple of times when it suddenly plummeted (perhaps related to that update problem?)
- watch sometimes appears to be incorrect (again a sync issue?)
I’ve opened a support ticket but no response after five days from Suunto. Not very impressed after an initial good start. Any suggestions for any of my problems?
Thanks!

@Richard-Bown for weather, check that your phone app has locations permission, and is not automatically terminated by the os
